Outside Benchmark's State St. Apartments, there is a field, advertised to parents as a "volleyball court" which is actually a hard labor field where kids are forced to dig holes in on weekends as punishment. There is a sign there saying "high pressure gas pipeline" which I just thought was a riot... Touching concern for the welfare of the kids.. truly.

Getting anybody to pay attention to us was difficult. Students were told that we were on drugs, etc... They were forbidden to talk to us or interact with us. So. In addition to the signs... we did this.

Reactions from the staff? Laughs... Students? Some laughed.. Some ignored. The point of the whole exercise was to show that not one would dare take the information (actually a few pages photocopied out of "Cults In Our Midst".

Thats right Bubba, a parent can basically do a reversed emancipation on their kid and control him/her still they reach 21, or 25.
Also many kids that are in R.T.C's after the legal age are bullied by their families.
There was one girl who went to Tranquility Bay and turned 18 but stayed because her father told her his love for her was conditional and she had to finish the program for her to have any kind of relationship with him.
There are also kids who get send as alternatives to jail time (which in reality is stupid I would have chose jail time if I had an option)

So what if he was an adult? Anyone at any age is vulnerable to cults, especially someone actively seeking help for something. There were quite a few 'adults' (over 18) in Straight. Some were court ordered (or at least told they were), some were emotionally blackmailed by their parents (most likely from having a younger sibling inside) and I can even remember one person that came on their own, seeking help. What they got was a far cry from anything helpful, to say the least.
Why? Why were you sent there? If it was so bad, why didn't you walk out? Actually, I never heard any negative reports about it, except from you - so who knows.
Then you should probably get out and read up a little more.

They have this dish in Kazakhstan called beshbarmark or beshparmark which is hunks of horse meat and gravy served over noodles and is intended to be eaten with your hands.
