New Info / Montreux Clinic
« on: June 14, 2002, 10:00:00 PM »
Yeah, I have an idea....Unless you want to keep this page for Straight related sites, which is cool. Have you ever heard about Peggy Claude-Pierre and The Montreax clinic? Her eating dissorders clinic in Victoria was shut down for not agreeing to abide by any of the health standards in British Columbia. Clients were reportedly force fed and not allowed to leave, kept longer than they should ahve been, and reportedly a three year old boy was even kept there for an extended time period. Peggy was the miracle worker on Oprah all the time before people came forward.

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Six degree's of Rob Zombie
« on: May 29, 2002, 05:24:00 PM »
Rob Zombie wrote a song about A Clock Work Orange, which will forever be connected to The Straights (AARC, Kids...) for most of us. For those of you who haven't heard it go to robzombie.com, click on Music, and then the little box beside Never Gonna Stop for a download friendly video. Whether you like his music or not, you've got to admit the song is uplifting.

The Seed Discussion Forum / Raps/The Game
« on: April 26, 2002, 02:01:00 PM »
You may have noticed my post on The Straights board asking when group went from being called The Game at Synanon, to Rap's. Someone said they think The Seed changed that lingo. Is that true?

I just wanted to pass a message on to the non posting frequent viewers. No one has to post so don't worry about it, but if you want to post and are afraid that you can't remain anonymous that's not the case. Doesn't matter how many times you come back you can still remain a screen name. Seeing as in only two of us are posting it would be nice to see some other people come forward here.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know when it went from The Game at Synanon to being called Raps? Was that in Straight or Kids? Anyone have any idea WHY they're called raps?

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / Society Against Youth
« on: April 14, 2002, 11:00:00 AM »
I just found this 2001 article. The fact that hatred towards youth is treated so matter of fact in this article amazes me. I thought that drug addiction was a disease? I thought normal people just fall prety to it? No, apparantly all drug users are terrible "nasty" liars and must be treated like so. I know when I went into aarc I wasted a liar or "nasty". I was a pretty innocent young girl.

"You can't con the con man' says Dr. Vause, 'These kids don't come here because they see the light, rather they feel the heat. They're the biggest cons I've ever met. They are not honest, they are addicted and they're nasty. So we have a philosopy, bad manners only understands bad manners. We get in their face, we have to meet them on their level. They can't come in here and run the system. They're master at bullying other clients, or manipulating to get the heat off"

Funny isn't it? Before AARC I was "harm none". Never had to "Bully" anyone or "get the heat off" until I realized that doing so would help me spend less years of my life instead of a cold converted garage. What's AARC's new way of "bad manners" to "help" kids?

"When they first come through the door the adolescents, aged 12 to 21 are often angry and defiant. Sometimes they have to be shackled".

Shackled? Wow, guess restraining with hands and bodyweight doesn't get them off anymore. Glad I'm not there, and can offer a small resource for those who are not out. I don't kow about the rest of you, but I think if I had a kid who was developing a drug problem I wouldn't consider them suddenly nasty manipulative liars - if my kid grew up to be a nasty manipulative liar I would accept that perhaps I'd done a little something wrong. I would understand that drug usage is a fact of life in our society today and doesn't make someone less of a sensative, respect worthy human being like the rest of us.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Nugen's Ranch
« on: April 02, 2002, 02:16:00 AM »
Does anybody know anything about Nugen's Ranch in Alaska? I know someone who vanished to there a few years ago and am just letting it creep back into my mind.

Do you think it's more than just ironic that every time I read "Fr. Cassian" I accidently say "Fr. Cashin"?

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / An American Gulag
« on: March 14, 2002, 11:36:00 PM »
Has anyone else here read Alexia Parks's An Amerian Gulag? Or have you been to teenliberty.org? If you have then you know the story, if not Alexia wrote the book and created the site after a young relative of hers was "escorted" to a few schools including Bear Mountain Academy (Yeah, the one where three boys beat a newcomer to death and left his body outside so that they could get police into the school in hopes of getting free'er), Loving Hearts and Safe Harbour.

Her sister (the mother of he "escorted" teen) has been posting negative reviews at Amazon.com saying that Alexia's story is a fantasy. She also argues that children are not "innocent" as stated in Gulag, and that Columbine should prove that! That's right, two kids murder so all of them are evil! What does that make us adults?

Having read the book it sounds 100% truthful to me, and I've read up on those schools elsewhere. If you would like to help out go to Amazon.com and post a review or something about alexia's cause. You can also "rate" whether or not other people's reviews were helpful, which can push their posts up or down on the readers list.
