I've asked this before, but it was a while ago, so I'm gonna ask again. Used to know a guy from straight inc st pete that became a staff member in Pathways. Wonder if y'all pathway folks heard of him and if so, what is your memories of this guy and y'alls general take on him.
Just wondering............thanks
-
Maybe if ye described the guy a little more someone might know.
Not trying to be cheeky, just trying to be helpful.

Any other noteable qualities? Like, what staff level, abusive level, anything else?

Yeah, you're talking about David Key. He was my therapist. He married the mom of a client.
-
He was actually a pretty cool guy. He was the only staff member who didn't label me an alcoholic or drug addict--said I was probably a "problem user." One thing I didn't like about him was that he tried to act really tough and intimidating. Came across as one of those "I've spilled more beer than you've drank" kind of guys.
I lost a bit of respect for him when he married the client's mom. I'm not sure what the ethical guidelines are for therapists, but I'm assuming he violated some rule of professional reponsibility.
-
I guess he also 'violated' that program mom to some extent, you know? :D
-
IF this is David Keys, you speak of, I knew him, pre straight, and on his phases,he didnt do that much drugs to begin with.......wtf...
TO me he was one of those people who really shoulda just gone to counceling or somthin' he didnt need to be in a away from home kinda situation.......David Keys? wtf?

hmm....I think when he became an adult, Dave shoulda known the program was whacked. Like all adults that were on staff, I hold him responsible for child abuse. Sorry David, lost respect for you when you joined the staff club, whether at straight or pathways, it is bull shit to go thru the progam and then go on staff.

Hey Pickle, what about someone who was just 18(who had just turned 18) and was threatened with being homeless?
I feel that some things are different. Have ye not gotten far enough along in your healing process to recognize that people were brainwashed to think that they would have nothing, be going to nothing, and would return to nothing?
Just wondering....not trying to be a smartass at all just to clarify, just seriously would like to know.

Deprogrammed...yes, that is a different situation. Dave had received his Bachelor of Science degree and his Masters as well. Dave came from a very well to do family; he had no chance of being homeless. They were the Birmingham/Gross Point crowd. I really don't have a problem with clients over 18 being in the program; don't hold them responsible, but David, bless his heart, joined staff in his mid 20's and stayed there until he was in his 30's. That is a different situation than what you posted about.
