I have just been contacted by a producer of a well-known, national-level TV show. They want to do a show on Straight survivors. They are looking for survivors from Straight and from any follow-on Straight programs. They are especially interested in women's stories. Since I am making this request on a discussion forum, they ware requesting that I do not announce which program it is at this time.

They will pay travel, hotel accomodations and a small per dien. They would like to broadcast the show as early as possible, perhaps as early as Dec 9.

If you are willing to appear on the show, please contact the undersigned ASAP. I need your name and phone number which I will forward to my contact with the program.

Over one year ago Ray Bradbury stuck his slim neck out big time in the matter of offering for sale on eBay the penis pump that once belonged to Straight founder Ambassador Melvin Sembler, AO. He says he wanted to bring attention to the survivors of Straight.  Well,  the ad got the ambassador's attention and he and Betty sued.  And that got the attention of the Washington Post as well as many other news media.  

Lenny Englander, Sembler's attorney, was asking for immediate discovery but I think it must have dawned on him that once Bradbury is deposed   Mel and Betty must be too.  And while Lenny may say there is no reason to Bradbury's action, that's what discovery is about and hopefully, that will be  for a jury to decide.  

Mr. Sembler did you use your political clout to keep Straight open in 1989 even though state officials were trying to close it because it was abusing American children?  Mr. Sembler, when did you and Betty first learn of child abuse at Straight and what actions did you take to stop the abuse?  Do you include former Straight graduate and former president of Cincinnati Seventh Step Club Jeff Leugers among your 12,000 successful graduates?  He committed suicide you should know.  And he's not the only one.

We suspect today's hearing is really a big deal.

There are two Democrat's running for office who are working with John Kerry and DCF to investigate Growing Together in Lakeworth, Florida--a second-generation Straight.  The candidates are Jeff Fisher for the US Congress and Dr. Piotr Blass, a write-in for the US Senate.  I heartily endorse both these men for their stand on investigating the teen rehabilitation industry.  You can read up on them at http://www.thestraights.com .

Straight, Inc. and Derivatives / FLORIDA HOLOCAUST MUSEUM PROTEST SATURDAY

I have been informed that there will be a protest at the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday, April 3 from 1145 AM to 1245 PM. All are invited to participate.   The protesters agree with the spirit of commemorating the the remembrance of the Holocaust, but they have issues with this particular Holocaust museum.  

The protesters  will be protesting  the hyprocrisy of the founding of the museum by Walter Loebenberg who is the former president of Straight Foundation;   the appointment of former Straight board member Dr. Bruce Epstein as a director of the museum; and the prominent roles played by Straight founders Melvin and Betty Sembler in the Florida Holocaust Museum.  

I am traveling and having connection problems to boot.  "theStraights dot com" will cover the event early next week.  Ginger Warbis will be covering the event on "fornits" in near real time as still  photos are phoned in.
