Pass Christian is between Gulfport and New Orleans right on the gulf coast.   The news out of that area has been devastating, with no news at all about Pass Christian.  I hope to god he's okay and got out of there safely.

Pass Christian under water

By JOSHUA NORMAN

Sun Herald

Most parts of Pass Christian spent the majority of Hurricane Katrina under water.

Most roads were completely impassable to residents and authorities alike because they were blocked by trees, power lines and homes that had been ripped from their foundations. The bridge between Pass Christian and Bay St. Louis was destroyed as were several other bridges in and around the city.

The raging current and crushing waves trapped hundreds of residents, devastated many homes and the muddy waters that came out of Bayou Acadian when the ocean?s surge started to retreat ruined almost all of the rest.

At least four people were killed by the flood water in the Belle Rose subdivision alone, said Forrest Noll, one of the subdivision?s residents.

In the eastern part of the city, water rose to over 20 feet above ground level and created a terrible current, several residents said.

Sgt. Blackwell of the Harrison County Sheriff?s Department said that few authorities had been able to get in or out of the city because of the storm?s destructive wrath.
