In 1970 a fire erupted at Grove School. Two students lost their lives as result. The circumstances why they were in a part of the school where they were not able to escape were unclear at the time of the fire and never fully investigated.

But two families never got their relatives back.

Did anyone learn from this tragedy? Why can you go over fire inspections reports even today finding doors locked when they should not be? As long as rules and regulations are not followed the next tragedy is only a matter of time.

Forest Haven Asylum does not exist today. Force feeding we know about from Guantanamo Bay. However it is not a new invention. Women who made the choice to fight for their rights were force-feed 100 years ago.

So how could the employees at Forest Haven Asylum make such a stupid mistake to force-feed a child who were lying down instead of sitting up? Could it be that the methods never changed in the Troubled Teen industry to hire the cheapest employees were the decisive element that brought on the death of a 17 year old teenager?

The Troubled Teen Industry / The tragic death of Lorene Larhette (1971)

She was not the only person to die during those tragic days in 1971. She did not attend a wilderness program as we know them today where muscle men get the teenager from the teenagers own bed using handcuffs and other kinds of restraints but made the "volunteering" choice to attend the wilderness program because it would look good on her CV when later applying for a university.

But as with wilderness programs in the decades that followed, the employees were not prepared to rapid changes in the weather and that led to the tragedy in 1971.

Nothing was learned from this tragedy and that is the worst part. Teenagers continue to die in wilderness programs. Why did nothing change?

Asheville Academy for Girls is located on 126 Camp Elliot Rd, Black Mountain, North Carolina. This address used to house Stone Mountain School run back then by Aspen Education Group. The campus was shared with Solstice East.

The target group is younger teenager girls aged below 15 at enrollment.

Some testimonies on Google state what kind of environment the girls are placed in:

I am begging you with every fiber of my being not to send your child here. I was at AAG from August 12, 2013-August 14, 2014. I have never been more traumatized than I was while I was there. We were treated like garbage and while there was a handful of good staff the majority did not care and would put us into restraints for absolutely no reason. I also was sent to the basement and forced to do nothing and I was not allowed to have conversations. We were barely allowed to be near each other. To this day I have nightmares about this school and everything I went through. There are so many places that can help your child but this is not one of them.

Quote from: Kelly Montgomery
WARNING - DON'T SEND YOUR DAUGHTER HERE IF YOU LOVE HER!  The staff are rude and girls can get by with basically anything.  iF you act out you get restrained and staff holds you down until you agree to stop.  My parents sent me here when I was 13 and I will never forgive them for the 8 months of absolute hell they put me through!

Quote from: anonymous reviewer
*to clarify, this is about my experience with AAG, not solstice* My own PTSD regarding my traumatizing experience at this school years ago, has kept me from doing anything as simple as writing this review, in terms of speaking out. Somehow years later, I’m still so fearful of this place that I am afraid to speak out against it, and tell my story. But they don’t have any control over me anymore, they cannot punish me for writing an honest review.

In my and many other’s opinion, this school manipulates parents. Both in getting them to send their kids here, and getting them to stay. If you say anything negative about the school to your parents, they tell them that you are not “accepting” of the fact that you are here, and they make you stay longer. In the years following my stay here, my parents have recognized the many manipulation tactics they used, and have apologized to me for falling for them. Even if you have toured the school, and have had students tell you they are fine and dandy..... trust me. I was one of the students they paraded around during tours. I felt trapped into assuring parents that this school was safe, and was helping me. I feel guilty about that to this day, but I was emotionally trapped and had no choice (at 14 years old).

I witnessed a number of restraints that didn’t need to happen, people being taken to “the basement” for hours or even DAYS, with nothing to do except sit and get even more upset, as punishment. I witnessed a certain therapist scream at a student who was suffering, and the same therapist made fun of me while I was disassociating.

and while we are talking about staff, there were at least two staff members who worked at the school when i went there who, now that I am older, i believe may have been acting inappropriately towards students. in what exact capacity I’m not sure, but personally I know of one former staff member who would tell me and other students about her sex life in order to get us to do our chores, etc.

We were also forced to read “impact letters” from our parents, which stated explicitly why we were sent there, to a large group of other preteens. We could not skip words, and often had peers reading over your shoulder to make sure you weren’t leaving anything out. What purpose it served to be forced to read your parents words in front of the other girls, aside from shame and humiliation, I have no clue. Aside from my own impact letter, it was so uncomfortable for me to have to listen to other girls’ reading theirs, knowing how traumatizing it was. It was also just terribly awkward.

I have many other stories to tell, and I will one day. If anyone in charge this school is reading this, just know that I understand that some of you are well meaning. i get that. But in my opinion, at least a couple of years ago, you are/were not doing it right. This is not the nurturing environment you advertise it to be.

To use the words you so loved to throw in my face when I was there... me choosing to write this review, and in the future, tell my story, is my version of “advocation” and “authenticity”. I WILL advocate for the bettering of institutions like yours, as well as for the people who have been hurt by them. And I WILL be authentic, and eventually, unafraid, in honestly talking about my time here, in hopes to raise awareness and to help myself heal.

When I was here at AAG it was when I was 12 I am now 17 and still think of the terrible expiernces I have been through at that place. I’ve been to over 5 programs and can reccomend good ones for parents looking to send there children here please do not!!!! I was consitnitly retrained and so was everyone else for the most ridiculous reasons, (getting to close to another peer) and I was also put in the basement with no peer interaction for 2 weeks before I begged my parents to send me to a wilderness program which I came from. I remember one time I was cutting myself and they didn’t notice till 3 weeks in the staff is a joke they want money the only reason there their.

I went to this horrible horrible place about 3 years ago. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD. My family and I have spent years trying to undo the damage and PTSD put on me by “therapists” and “trained staff”. I was locked in a room by myself for a full month! THESE PLACES DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!

Quote from: Madeline McKenzie
If you are reading this, and you are having trouble with your daughter, I just want to let you know that, what your daughter is going through is not forever and while it may be difficult and you are unsure what to do as a parent, the best thing you truly can do is be there for your kid and not expect some program to try and fix your child's problems. As a young adult woman now.. the problems I faced as a 12-13 year old girl surpassed as I got older and I got through the cruel phases of puberty that all women go through in their lives.

It's been roughly 5 years since I attended this therapeutic school program. I was sent here in continuation from another treatment center as a way to slowly integrate into a normal school system. This school is set in a beautiful environment, the house where solstice and AAG was in was very nice and whilst being there, it was going under remodeling so I can only imagine what it is like now.

The biggest problem with this  program I can share is, the lack of understanding between the staff and the students. The program was set in a level system where you can earn privileges as you increased in rank. You proceed in your rank by taking accountability, showing respect, leadership, progressing in therapy, and doing assignments, etc. I got to the 3rd highest rank within the program. In this program I felt trapped and I felt very lost. Music was and is my life but for the majority of my time there, my music listening was restricted to 30 minutes per weekend. Staff also put restrictions as to what the students can and cant listen to or read so being my 13 year old self, this only caused me to rebel and look for ways to sneak in my books, and my cds. Music regardless of genre and style or content, is extremely helpful in therapy and I was quite baffled as to how that was considered a privilege? It was the hardest thing about attending AAG. AAG put a new wave of defiance in me with all of the restrictions they put upon the students. No student is one and the same, what one girl may find helpful, maybe different for another. Therapy is personal.

The actual therapy wasn't very good, I couldn't relate with my therapist at all and I found that my therapist often rarely worked with me. I would have to send requests but even then, she wouldn't acknowledge them sometimes. I did Ptsd based therapy but I wasn't even sure that was the problem, the main problem was that I had no liberty and the only way I could escape or free myself from this institution was look to books and religion. I'd also work with a doctor who would prescribe me medication without my fathers discretion. I can't even remember all the different kinds of pills they put me on, now today my digestion is messed up from it all, young girls from the ages of 10-14 shouldn't be taking 60 mgs of prozac  or prescribed 20mg of ritalin. Its terrible for their health and any reasonable adult should know that this stuff is not good for developing bodies. I had no say, it was a "doctor knows best" deal, and most typically doctor dont always know best.

I found myself more depressed in AAG than I was before in my everyday life . I was suicidal, I missed my father, and more importantly I felt so disassociated with reality, reality isn't accountability groups and "I feel statements", reality is knowing your situation, and learning to make a mistake and take that mistake and learn from it. This school should've preached love instead of making these poor girls feel bad about themselves in front of their parents. What those girls wanted was someone to understand them through this confusing and difficult time, and all we truly had was each other. Sisterhood is very real in this place, I am still friends with the girls I met 6 years ago at AAG. They have all grown to be great strong young women.

This isn't trying to hurt the school, this is just some of the things I experienced while I was here. For some it might be a good fit, but for me, it really was a nightmare.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Bluefire Wilderness program - Idaho
« on: August 08, 2021, 02:33:14 PM »
On Reddit they are building a wiki database as replacement for Fornits Wiki and Secret Prisons for Teens Wiki database which sadly are no more.

Here are some testimonies from Google:

Quote from: Carter Kessing
Hi i am a past student of blue fire and I am writing this for struggling parents who feel like they have no option but so send their kid here DONT DO IT this place can care less if you come out better and even less that you actually go home. At my time at blue fire they used cruel punishments on me and the kids in my group we were constantly deprived of food when I first got there it was 8 kids when I left it was 16 kids and we were still getting the same amount of food it was used against us as punishment and what made it worse is the staff knew what they were doing because me and the kids would constantly say you can’t use food as punishment and even are therapist tried to help but once the therapist left and it was just the unsupervised staff with the kids they were free to do as they please and punish how they pleased so we were genuinely scared that whatever we said about the staff out of fear that it would be used against us or that our “privilege” of talking to our family be taken away much of the program is hiking and I remember an occasion when we actually ended up getting lost in the desert and they forced us to hike 25 miles all the kids had blistered feet and we were out of food but of course the staff still had food and they were eating beef jerky in front of us when they knew damn well we  were deprived of meat there I could write a whole other review talking about the food they fed us horrible beans and rice almost every meal also forgot to mention to have any contact with your parents you have to write them a letter saying how good of a program you are at and how much of an opportunity it is for you to be there and if you don’t your not allowed to talk to your parents these people who run this place are sick in the head and see basic necessities as privileges

Get rich quick scheeme, you have a bad kid? Theyll make your kid good in just a few weeks? This is bs. I attented bluefire for more than 2 monthes and it ruined my entire social life it ruined my family life, how are they going to help your teen when they have only 2 theripists, and you only meet with them once a week. They have the say weather u go home or not. They have more than 10 other kids cases there working on too if and if its not working out how they see it they will just say your kid needa boarding school... this is how they make there money its sad. I stay intoucu with everyone i was at bluefire with and there lifes all went down the drain as did mine. One of the biggest issues is there website is a lie. We sleep on the floor eat out the same cup have no chairs nothing and during family spark they bring out tents and chairs and acual good food only when the parents come to visit than right when the parents leave its right back to sleeping on the floor no chairs or nothing. Everyone i was there with agreed it was a front. Please dont waste your money on this scheme, dont put your family thru what mine went thru, dont put your kid through what i went through. It made me worse off as a kid made me way worse i had to learn everything myself amd i had years of therepy because of bluefire and they all agree bluefire is a scam a scheme.. they literally have tents bur won't let you sleep in them unless ur familys there. This wont help your kid dont give them your hard earned dollars just to make things worse for your family

Quote from: Gavin Cruz
The staff were nice but the over all help they had with targeting certain kids including myself was horrible. The staff would mess up the re rash and we would have way less food and we were stuck barely eating. Also your pictures of blue fire on your website is completely false we had horrible quality clothes I was in there when it was five degrees and below and the gloves and layers of clothes were not meant for that environment they were horrible it’s basically cruel punishment for people trying to get help. What’s the point of putting someone with mental issues or drug or alcohol addiction in weather where they can’t feel there hand or body while having kids cook horrible food with horrible ingredients giving during re rash. I was there for eleven weeks I enjoyed my therapist a lot but I didn’t make any progress at all he was a great guy but didn’t help me at all. I went to a treatment center after and they couldn’t help me either I struggle with depression and anxiety i am the exact same person as before. There is no point of sending a struggling kid to a wilderness therapy especially one that does not give you the tools to be safe. If we didn’t bust a cold we were stuck sitting around the camp site freezing then going into a green wall which y’all said that we were going in a yurt every night on y’all’s website when we went into one only at three camp sites. I remember waking up in a fetal position and I used one of my nalgens filled with my urine and put it on my stomach to keep me warm. And they would only let you sleep in a long sleeve skin tight shirt and pants that matched the shirt with no jacket or anything so you would basically be sleeping in your underwear they also took your shoes so you would have to wake up and pee outside with no shoes and in a shirt and pants in the snow. This was punishment my parents still think it was a fun experience when in reality it was a living hell. I’m begging you from the bottom of my heart don’t send your kid here they lie to you. Just get a therapist at home and if needed send him or her to a mental hospital. Also don’t send your kid to a treatment center it’s the same process as wilderness but in a building it’s not helpful there at all. Don’t ever consider this.

It seems that a boy was injured running away while having been placed at the facility some years back.

Teen runaway hospitalized, three remain jailed
By JON FULBRIGHT, Staff Writer

PECOS, Tues., April 30, 2002 -- One teenage boy is in an Odessa hospital, a second is in a  Midland juvenile center and two teen girls are in custody of Presidio  County officials in Marfa after they ran away from the High Frontier  Children's Ranch in Fort Davis on Sunday and later stole prescription drugs and  a rifle from a rural Jeff Davis County home.

The teen was hospitalized after taking the prescription drugs mixed with alcohol that they found inside the home, according to Joe Balderrama, Jeff Davis County Chief Deputy who assisted in his capture Sunday night.

Balderrama said he received a report at 4 a.m. Sunday that the four teens had runaway from the High Frontier Ranch, and then conducted a search of the area, assisted by Department of Public Safety trooper Rhyan Drodch. The deputy said they were unable to locate the teens during the day, but at 9:30 p.m. he said the sheriff's department received a call that the four had been spotted hiding out at the Point of Rocks rest area on State Highway 166, 11 miles southwest of Fort Davis.

"I contacted Drodch and told him the four runaways were reported at that location," Balderrama said. The two then drove out to the site and entered the rest area from opposite ends.

"The plan was to start walking towards each other, but about 30 seconds later I heard the trooper yelling to `put your hands up where I can see them,'" the deputy said. Two of the four teens were able to run off, while one, who was standing next to a .22 caliber rifle, was pepper sprayed by Drodch when he failed to comply.

"We found the rifle had live ammunition in it," Balderrama said, and when the male teen, later identified as Carlos Anthony Soto, 18, became aggressive and combative, he was again hit with pepper spray.

Along with Soto, a female was also apprehended at the rest area. Balderrama said the girl, identified as Aliza Hirsh, 17, had a driver's license that failed to match up either with her or Soto. A check later revealed it belonged to the owner of the house from where the rifle had been stolen.

After contacting the owner of the home, which was located about a quarter mile behind the rest area, Balderrama said it was reported that a .22 caliber automatic pistol and a camera were also stolen. As a result, three other DPS troopers from Alpine and four U.S. Border Patrol agents from Marfa with night vision equipment were also called out to assist in the search for the two remaining teenagers.

A DPS helicopter with night vision equipment was also flown down from Midland. "It flew around the Point of Rocks area for about 30 to 45 minutes when it picked up movement with its infrared equipment," Balderrama said. Using the information, officers on the ground were able to locate the other two teens and take them into custody.

The deputy said that the second girl apprehended, identified as Natalie Matts, 18, told them the other teen, a 16-year-old boy whose name was not released, had thought about taking the pistol from the home, but did not do so. A later check of the home by the owner turned up the pistol, Balderrama said.

Matts, Hirsh and the 16-year-old were taken into custody, while Soto was transported to Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine after it was determined he had stolen prescription drugs from the home, and taken them with alcohol. "He took all three medications and ground them up and took them with the alcohol, so he almost overdosed," Balderrama said. "He continued to get worse, so he was taken to Odessa Medical Center."

Soto was in stable condition at the Odessa hospital.

The two girls and the juvenile have been charged with Burglary of a habitation, and Soto will face the same charge when he is released from the hospital, Balderrama said. He'll be returned to the Presidio County Jail in Marfa, while the 16-year-old is being kept at the Midland County Juvenile Detention Center.

This is not the place to send your child. As a family member of someone sent here, I can not express the trauma from sexual assault, isolation, etc that occurred within these walls. This place does not "fix" your child's issues. My family member came back and shortly after was diagnosed with CPTSD from what happened here.

Quote from: Olive R.
This "school" created havoc in my brain. I was here for 4 years!!! This idea that I can trust other "peers" is just not a realistic idea. The outline of a daily routine at this place was just horrible. I, and many others, put up a HUGE front just to make it through the day. There were quite a few of us who would get hurt and receive a punishment for it. We were never allowed to speak to the opposite gender in a realistic setting. Everyone was eventually going to be put on some medication. So much chaos there. I survived, but it's still in my head.

Quote from: Mary A
They are the worst!!!  Dale is a Coward & does not get involved in anything.  Ronnie The " counselor" is burned out & needs to quit!!!  At least quit skimming money from the parents!!!   He owes me 52.00 for about a Year Now & won't give me my money back but did offer Not to charge me for The Free lodging on the premises for the parents.   Did you all catch that..... it's "Free" but for me he would wave the 50.00 charge!!    He also started sending back all the care packages I sent my son!!   But he would tell me my son got the package.  My son would say No he did not & The package will arrive at my house.   Ronnie is an evil spiteful man.   Needless to say we took our son out of that rat hole Ronnie runs

Quote from: Mary C.
The High Frontier just keeps going down hill and they have NO RESPECT for parents!  They take a FULL BLAME THE PARENTS for they way the kids are and PUNISH THE PARENTS!!!
I waited 2 MONTHS to see my son who had made NO Good change but BAD change.  He learned how to Fight!  He's sneakier and he cries a lot.  I was with him for 2 Days with no one around!  And Nothing to do!  It was Great in the being because we talked like Crazy!!!  But the 2nd day was awful because my son didn't want me to leave without him.  I left him standing in a parking lot CRYING & Shaking AND NO ONE WAS THERE FOR HIM!  NO STAFF!!!   I was sick!!!

The food is SLOP!  Pizza & fruit loops for breakfast!!!!!   For growning teens!!!!

The worst 2 days later my son's Theropist Ronnie, the one in charge of MY SON called me and YELLED AND SCREAMED AT ME!!!!!!  I was in my Realtor's Office & put Ronnie on Speaker Phone so that ALL the Realtors could hear how UNprofessional He Was!!!!  This man went to school for this and has been working with kids for over 20 years and here he was SCREAMING at ME!!!   Telling me he was NO LONGER going to call me weekly!  That he was only going to write me a note.  He was punishing me!!!!!!!!  I'm 50!!!  And he was punishing me!!!  He's the professional and should know how to calmly handle ANY sitution.  If not, QUIT!!!!  But he was Yelling and out of control!!!!!  Because he should have been with my son & I especailly on the last day when I was leaving.  Someone should have been with us!!  no parent and child likes to separate again for another 2 months!!!!!  Even I know that and I didn't have to go 5 yrs of school to learn it!
The Realtors are now all afraid for my son who is stuck in the High Frontier!!!!!

Quote from: Margot R.
I was sent to High Frontier at the age of 16 after attending a wilderness rehabilitation center for three months. When I first arrived at High Frontier, I had a positive outlook because I wanted to be the best person I could possibly be and become better from who I once was. That was before I got out of the car. My first night there was truly traumatizing (and so was the rest of my stay). The students and staff especially were very insensitive about the way I felt, the dorms were TRASH (I am in NO way exaggerating, they looked fine from the outside but from the inside it looked like an abandoned, moldy (it had mold)and weather beaten home; they never let the parents inside the dorms... wonder why!), I had severe depression and no one helped. PPC is not a positive way of helping someone grow. It's basically sitting in a group of people where you are begging for help and they criticize you for everything and shut you down instead of helping you. They point out your negative characteristics and don't provide you with explanations of how to work on them. They just criticize and bully. It made me feel so bad about myself which led my self-worth and esteem to be at an all time low. All I wanted was help and they provided me with an unlimited amount of hurt. At High Frontier, I was taught to fear people and their abuse. I was taught to never trust people. I was taught to stay silent and let the mental and physical abuse push me to the edge. The staff would be very rude and careless towards our well being. When students misbehaved, they would put them in restraints that were much more brutal then they had to be. I was never personally put into restraint but after witnessing my peers go through this, I can say with full confidence the treatment was inhumane. There were fights every day, constant bullying, harassment, runaways, and true unfairness. The staff would obviously pick favorites, so I learned how to mask my true personality because at this point I was willing to be anyone they wanted me to be so I could get out of there and feel safe for once in a long while. They pushed us to the edge and the staff and peers provoked us to act out so they could file reports. All High Frontier truly cares about is money. We did not have therapy sessions, we had a five minute intervention with our group (the ones where I mentioned the constant brutal and unnecessary criticism). Once a week, we would meet with our therapists and have an hour and a half long intervention focused on one person's problems while everyone else sat there and tried to help. The help was fake, it was all for a show so the staff could see we were "growing" and "flourishing" into being who they wanted us to be. It wasn't about bringing out our full potential or being our best selves. It was about being exactly who they want you to be. This place will anger me forever. Throughout my time here, I forgot who I really was because I had to fake it for so long. I became someone who lost their true identity and I felt so alone because all of my real opinions and real thoughts were brainwashed out of me. No one was there for us. All anyone wanted was to get out of that Hell hole. Excuse my language, but I swear I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. The High Frontier is the WORST thing that EVER happened to me. We worked for hours in the hot Texas sun and got paid $1.50 for every hour we worked. My ultimate goal was to save up all that money so I could move out of there the day I turned 18. I truly believe that if my mother had sent me to a better place I would've definitely acquired the coping skills that I desperately needed at the time. In my experience, The High Frontier brain washes children into believing that they are responsible for all of the trauma that happened to them. They said we are not "victims" of trauma, we are the reason it happened to us. During my stay at The High Frontier, I got an extremely bad rash that looked like very dark purple splotches and no medical care was provided even after months of complaining and writing requests for a visit to the doctor. My ankles began to swell up and hurt very badly (to the point where it was difficult to walk), the rash spread, and I developed chronic joint pain. After three months of dealing with this ignored illness, my mother came out for a visit. She immediately saw how brutal and raw my rash was and requested to take me home immediately so I could receive professional medical help. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Lupus. The doctors said they have NEVER seen anything like this. Before diagnosing me, they ran countless tests. The immense stress and anxiety that I had at The High Frontier aroused an underlying condition that I had. The doctors say that if I hadn't experienced this amount of stress, my Lupus would have appeared maybe later on in my life. I have never returned to HF since. I am 18 today, It has been two years and my trauma from being at HF still effects me everyday.

Quote from: Anna T.
I was sent here as a child and had a terrible experience. Most of the staff has no business being around children... I still can't trust people after the experience. I think that if my parents had found a better place for me I would have actually learned some coping skills and maybe worked through my problems instead of learning to fear people and their abuse. :( There are other great programs out there, but this is not one of them.

Earlier there was a thread about the facility going after people for speaking out the truth about their experiences while being detained at the facility. Now there seem to be a Judge who will use the facility to detain a girl because she is afraid of the actions of her father. More about the girl and the relationship with her father can be read in this article:

Missouri judge sends teenage girl to live with allegedly sexually abusive father after jailing her mother

Family court judge, Nicole Zellweger, reportedly ordered the minor daughter of Angela Freiner back into the custody of her father, who allegedly sexually abused her, PJ Media reports.

The teenage daughter recorded a video of a hearing Friday with Judge Zellweger, which was obtained by investigative journalist Michael Volpe who then proceeded to post the video on YouTube. In the video, the teenaged girl is heard begging the judge not to send her back to live with her father, who she says abused her.

In the recording, the minor can be heard pleading with the judge, who then threatens that her mother could end up in jail if she does not comply wit her order.

“She has free will but her free will can end up putting her in jail,” Zellweger says.

"I don’t want to live with him," the young girl is heard saying.

'The judge replies, "When your mom is taken to jail you will have no other parent to live with but dad…I understand you’re not happy with the court’s judgment."

"We can do it the easy way or we can do it the hard way," she continued.

The minor further pleas with the judge, asking how she could be sent to live with an abuser.

"I still don’t understand, I told you that he was touching me [unintelligible] and you’re still going to make me go with him?" she asked.

The judge responded saying there was "no evidence," of the molestation, shutting down the young girl's request.

Sources told PJ Media that Freiner was arrested and was held in criminal contempt and jailed for two days following the hearing. The mother reportedly had no prior criminal record.

The judge also reportedly had the child committed to the behavioral center at the Children’s Hospital of St. Louis. Upon arrival, the young girl immediately told doctors she experienced sexual abuse from her father, triggering a mandatory report of the allegations to authorities. Court documents show that the girl's father has a criminal record and is on probation for domestic abuse.

"Petitioner and the GAL asked questions of Respondent about his past/current criminal convictions. Respondent testified that he is on probation until July of 2021 for disorderly conduct related to a domestic/family dispute that involved his wife and his step-daughter…

Respondent testified that he has a temper and that there have been arguments at his house, although he testified that things have improved and he is working … on this issue. These facts trouble the Court greatly, but the Court finds Respondent credible in his testimony that he is working on his anger issues," the court documents read.

Court documents also show that the father brought the young girl to the home of his father who is reportedly a level-three sex offender. He had been convicted of "rape/fear, force, and sexual battery" according to the registry, PJ Media reports.

Since this article was written, the girl disappeared with the approval of the Judge. Various sources tell that the girl is at Trinity Teen Services. What is the purpose with her stay. Are they going to pray forgiveness towards her fathers alleged advances? Should she forget the alleged advances in return of Gods approval of her being a submissive daughter?

Trinity Teen Solution is a faith-based facility where things are swiped under the table.

We are worried for the girl.

This is a facility where conditions seems so awful that the children are ready to commit suicide by cop to avoid staying there further.

A 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl ran away from the facility and armed themselves and by this endangered the poor police who had to shoot one of them to avoid being killed. The status of the shot child remains unclear. However if they should survive, long prison sentences awaits them. Ironically, they will probably experience better living conditions in prison than the orphanage.

It should not be so.

This is the article about the shootout:

Volusia Sheriff calls for juvenile justice reform after children escape group home, shoot at deputies (The Orlando Sentinel)

A 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were in a shootout with deputies Tuesday night in Volusia County after the children broke into a house and armed themselves with guns, including an assault rifle, they found inside, Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

Eight deputies fired over 60 rounds during the incident, Chitwood said, and they have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's investigation. The children fired at the deputies on four separate occasions.

The girl was taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being shot in the chest and abdomen, Chitwood said. During a Wednesday press conference, Chitwood said she was in critical, but stable, condition and credited deputies' quick action to saving her life.

"None of us want to see her die," he said.

No deputies were injured in the incident, though body-worn camera footage released by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office Wednesday afternoon shows the children shooting at responding officers.

Charges of attempted first-degree murder and armed burglary against the two are pending, VCSO said. The children had run away from Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise and were reported missing around 5 pm It was also reported the boy, who hit a member of the Methodist group with a stick before leaving, was diabetic and in need of medication.

The Orlando Sentinel generally does not release the names of juveniles involved in criminal cases unless they are charged as adults.

Children 'ransacked' home before firing at deputies

Body-worn camera footage released by the Sheriff's Office, along with details revealed by the agency over the past day, shows how the incident escalated within an hour of the reported break-in.

Around 7:30 pm witnesses reported glass breaking at a home on Enterprise Osteen Road, VCSO said. Law enforcement had already been searching the area for the children, according to VCSO.

Deputies contacted the homeowner, who reported he had left for Publix about 15 minutes earlier with his children and no one should be in his home, Chitwood said Wednesday. He also told officials there was "a handgun, a shotgun and an AK-47 inside," along with nearly 200 rounds of ammunition. Chitwood said the guns appeared to have not been secured inside the home and loaded prior to the children's entry.

Deputies surrounded the home and began talking to the children, who "ransacked" the home, shattering windows and causing tens of thousands of dollars of damage, Chitwood said. They observed the girl using a baseball bat to destroy furniture, a bathtub and a toilet.

Then, about 8:30 pm, the girl fired at a sheriff's sergeant out a back patio door, Chitwood said.

Body-worn camera footage showed a deputy taking cover behind a tree outside the home. He radioed to other deputies the girl appeared to have a long gun and the boy looked “like he has something in his hand” before several shots rang out as the children started shooting out the home's rear window.

The deputy ordered the children to put their guns down, but one fired another shot.

"Let's not shoot these kids, man, let's just hold off, take our time," another deputy can be heard saying over the radio. "... Let's not try to escalate this any further."

The first deputy, still taking cover behind the tree, reported the girl was re-racking the shotgun and the boy was holding a firearm. He said over the radio he would challenge the children if they exited the house.

“Do not let me do this. Do not do this, ”he whispered as he pointed his pistol toward the house.

Meanwhile, deputies tried talking the children out of the home, according to VCSO.

The deputy whose camera recorded the incident told others not to approach the house because the girl had the gun pointed at the door. Though the footage is too dark to see what happened, a gunshot is audible as the deputy reported the boy fired a round at him. Around 9 pm, he said he saw the girl had an AK and a shotgun "wrapping around" her neck.

Soon after, the children left the house. The girl came out of the garage and pointed a gun at authorities twice, the sheriff's office said.

Video released by VCSO cut to helicopter footage showing deputies taking cover behind a tree and shooting towards the house. The boy went back inside, and deputies reported the girl was down behind a garbage can but still was moving.

Deputies approached the girl to treat her injuries. Several requested a med kit and a deputy took his belt off to use it as a tourniquet. The footage ended as deputies appear to pick up the girl to take her to the hospital.

Shortly afterwards, deputies found the boy, who was holding an AK-47. He surrendered after a 30-second standoff, Chitwood said.

The girl was taken to CFRH for life-saving surgery. When she was in stable condition , she was transferred to another hospital for further treatment, according to VCSO spokesperson Andrew Gant.

The boy was also taken to the hospital due to his diabetic condition. During an interview with deputies, he said the girl told him she was going to "roll [the deputies] down like GTA," referencing the video game Grand Theft Auto, Chitwood said.

An investigation of the home revealed smashed furniture and an empty AK-47 banana clip, according to VCSO.

Chitwood blames broken system

In the day following the incident, Chitwood blamed Florida legislators and a broken juvenile justice system for allowing young, violent criminals to be released without implementing measures dedicated to reforming them.

An outraged Chitwood addressed the media outside the property just hours after the incident Tuesday night.

“The sanctity of human life is cheap on the streets. Here's the indication, a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old have it so bad in life that they are going to defy law enforcement and engage them in a gun battle, ”he said. “The more we deescalate it, the more we're trying to get the armored vehicles out here, and pepper spray and tear gas, the more brazen they got.

“That they just felt that they continue to open fire so much so that they threatened to kill my sergeant and then took on my crime suppression team. Unfortunately she lost. I have no sympathy, none. Anyone that says I'm an a — hole, so be it. Had any of these deputies entered that property, I'd be explaining to their husband or wife why they weren't coming home tonight. ”

Chitwood said it was not the first time law enforcement had been involved with the 14-year-old. She was previously arrested for stealing dogs and was later sentenced to a halfway house, which she burned down April 10, Chitwood said.

The Department of Juvenile Justice then sent her to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, which takes children who experience sexual abuse, physical abuse, abandonment, drug abuse, illness or the death of a parent.

The boy had no prior criminal history, but he was reprimanded for making two threats at school earlier this spring, Chitwood said during Wednesday's press conference. He threatened to throw a brick at an administrator in early April and days later threatened to kill another student and "spread his guts all over the bleachers," Chitwood said.

He noted that FUMCH has had numerous problems with children in the past, stating that it is "not equipped" to handle the children the Department of Juvenile Justice is handing over to them.

VCSO received close to 300 calls regarding the home in 2020. On April 3, deputies arrested a 14-year-old boy from FUMCH who had left campus and allegedly beat a 52-year-old security guard, Michael Ellis, who was escorting the teen back. Ellis later died in the hospital.

“You need to be exposing the Department of Juvenile Justice. It's a failure. It's a fraud. It's a fake, ”he said. “Deputies did everything they could tonight to de-escalate, and they almost lost their lives to a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old. If it wasn't for their training and their supervision, somebody would have ended up dead. ”

Chitwood called for legislators to take violent juvenile crimes seriously and "get on the streets" to talk to victims of juvenile crime, in the hopes they will make legislation allowing deputies to treat such crimes as seriously as those committed by adults.

A spokesperson for the Department of Juvenile Justice, Amanda Slama, did not return requests for comment Tuesday in response to Chitwood's claims.

"We're arresting these kids in the State of Florida for violent crimes, and the Department of Juvenile Justice wants to put them into places that can't handle them," Chitwood said. “... The juvenile justice system is broken. People need to face facts. ”

This thread was created to summon up the links regarding investigation into the owners of the closed boarding school "Ministerial Christian Academy". It was located in Montclair and Pomona, California.

The boarding school was closed in 2004 by the authorities. Media reports claims of rape conducted with with a foreign object and sexual battery of a female student. The accused party was a registered sex offender.

The police made the arrest March 2009. April 2004 a industry marketing firm published an article about one of the owners - Otis Mcintyre trying to open the school in an empty building in San Bernardino, California.

The school has an entry on the blog 1000 places you do not want to be as a teenager

Any information about them running a residential program or is it just common religious abuse?

Quote from: By Rick Lyman, May 25 - 2005, New York Times
Sex Charges Follow a Church's Collapse

PONCHATOULA, La., May 24 - Two decades ago, Hosanna Church was one of the fastest growing congregations in the cypress flats of Tangipahoa Parish on Lake Pontchartrain's northwest rim, and its pastor, Louis Lamonica, was a beloved figure.

"That man could really preach," said Bill McCormack, a resident of Ponchatoula who attended the church as a boy. "He was an awesome local icon."

But by two years ago, when the church finally closed after a ferocious falling-out between the pastor's son and successor, Louis Lamonica Jr., and his family, the congregation that once neared 1,000 had dwindled to 10 or 15 troubled souls from a handful of families.

And now, many of them, including Louis Lamonica Jr. and a deputy sheriff who once lived on the church grounds, are behind bars, accused by the police of a litany of ungodly offenses, including sexual abuse of perhaps two dozen children and the mutilations of cats for satanic rituals.

Eddie Robinson, assistant pastor at the 5,000-member Harvest World Outreach Ministries in nearby Hammond -- to which many Hosanna members migrated -- says what happened is clear. He told congregants on Sunday that a prophecy of "witchcraft" problems had been revealed in recent weeks.

"When the leadership of that church kept the enemy out, everything was fine," Mr. Robinson said. "But when the leadership of that church let the enemy in, things began to change."

The authorities -- who got the first whiff of trouble six weeks ago when a woman, Nicole Bernard, 36, called the Sheriff's Office from Ohio to say she had fled the town to save her child from sexual abuse -- are still trying to piece together what happened.

Nine people have been arrested in the past week. A dozen computers have been seized, at least some of which the police believe contain child pornography, as well as dozens of videotapes, hundreds of computer disks and eight large boxes of documents and photographs. Inside the shuttered church compound, in a "youth hall" behind the sanctuary, the police found the faint imprint of pentagrams on the floor that someone had apparently tried to scrub away. Some of those arrested, the police said, described rituals within those pentagrams involving cats' blood and people dressed in black robes.

The abuse victims ranged in age from 1 to 16, the police said. Several are in protective custody, and a search is under way for others, who may have moved or are known to the police only by first name or nickname. On Tuesday, the police were at the church grounds with dogs, though they would not say what they sought.

Sheriff Daniel H. Edwards of Tangipahoa said that as many as 25 children -- about evenly split between boys and girls -- might have been involved in sex acts at the youth center, in cars and in the homes of at least two of those charged. The abuse seems to have begun in 1999, he said, and stopped occurring on the church grounds after 2003.

"But nobody really believes that they just stopped abusing kids," Sheriff Edwards said.

Tangipahoa and surrounding parishes are fervently religious, and worshipers at other churches are wondering how something so troubling could have occurred.

"It has definitely affected my customers," said Diane Pepitone, owner of Heavenly Gifts Christian Bookstore. "The general consensus is, if anything like this can happen in a place like Ponchatoula, with all the churches we have, it can happen anywhere."

Ponchatoula was in the midst of its annual Strawberry Festival when Ms. Bernard called the sheriff. She was reluctant to discuss specifics, the sheriff said. "We'd call her and she'd say, oh, the dog's barking or somebody's knocking on my door right now, I'll call you back," Sheriff Edwards said. Two weekends ago, she began to name names.

The next day, the younger Louis Lamonica walked into the sheriff's office in neighboring Livingston Parish, where he lives, and proceeded to describe all manner of sexual offenses.

"He didn't come to turn himself in, he came to talk with us," said Stan Carpenter, the detective supervisor in Livingston Parish.

Mr. Lamonica, 45, matter-of-factly told them of having sex with at least two boys, from the time they were 4 until they were 12 or 13, as well as having sex with a dog, Mr. Carpenter said, adding that Mr. Lamonica did not act as though he was confessing to crimes. He was just trying to be helpful.

"We didn't let him walk away," Mr. Carpenter said.

He also named others at the church -- including Christopher Labat, 24, a deputy sheriff of Tangipahoa Parish. Last Tuesday, Mr. Labat told detectives that they would find child pornography on his home computer, Sheriff Edwards said, but denied taking part in any abuse. He was fired, charged and placed on a suicide watch.

Last Wednesday, two other church members, Austin Trey Bernard III, 36, and Allen R. Pierson, 46, were charged with aggravated rape of a juvenile. On Thursday, the former pastor's wife, Robbin Lamonica, 45, was arrested, along with Paul Fontenot, 21, another church member. Another parishioner, Lois Mowbray, 54, was accused of knowing about the abuse and not telling the authorities.

And then Mr. Bernard's wife, Nicole, who had made the initial call to the police and who is Mr. Fontenot's sister, was arrested and charged with aggravated rape. Finally, on Monday night, Mr. Pierson's wife, Patricia, 54, was charged with sexual battery and being a principal in an aggravated rape.

In Louisiana, the rape of a child is a capital offense.

The elder Louis Lamonica began Hosanna with fewer than two dozen congregants. By the 1970's, the church had nearly 1,000 members. A sanctuary rose along U.S. 51 north of Ponchatoula Creek and behind it a school where a generation of youths studied.

In 1984, Mr. Lamonica died. After some interim pastors, the church passed to the younger Mr. Lamonica in the mid-1990's. Strife followed.

Many congregants drifted away, many to the Harvest World Outreach Ministries, started by Hosanna's former youth minister.

Mr. Lamonica did not respond well to the competition, former church members said. At one point, he moved to excommunicate anyone who merely visited another church. And he fought with his family, including his mother, the church's secretary, eventually ordering them out of the church.

Two years ago, in an incident that the police are still investigating, some of those charged apparently made some sort of confession to other church members and sought forgiveness -- causing a final exodus.

The Lamonica family has been keeping a low profile, although one of the former pastor's sisters, Liz Lamonica Roberts, spoke to a New Orleans newspaper, The Times-Picayune.

Her mother was devastated by the charges, she said, and had never reconciled with Mr. Lamonica. Nor could they explain what had happened to him.

"Obviously, there's a screw loose," Ms. Roberts told the newspaper.

The church property sits empty, marked off with yellow police tape. A roadside sign, which once displayed Bible verses, bears crude graffiti sprayed in red paint. "I went here K-4," it reads. "You let us down."

Tim Normand, a retired contractor, lives just behind the church. "I was sick," he said. "I couldn't sleep when I heard what happened."

But he was not entirely surprised, Mr. Normand said. He got along fine with the old preacher, but relations soured after the son took over. There were disputes over property lines.

One night, he said, he heard a woman screaming that she'd "beat the sins out of them," followed by "hooting and hollering" and other sounds. "I'm a Catholic," Mr. Normand said. "I got the heebie-jeebies."

Hosanna House, Jacksonville Florida has only 5 stars reviews but on the blog 1000 places You don't want to be as a teenager - It is sadly not fiction but reality you can read:

Quote from: Sam
I was in Hosanna House, Jacksonville Florida for 36 months….during my 3 year stay at this hell hole hiding behind Christianity, I witnessed/ experienced abuse and torture in the form of “silence”, corporal punishment (beatings over and over and over) and food restrictions. I have started a group with some of the other survivors from this program and we are working to bring facilities like this down! I need more information please on how to do so. Also, the owner of our program (which is now closed and handed over to teen challenge) has written a book based off lies and surface information which depicts herself and the program as God-built…that place and that lady is pure evil and abusive and has left us girls with PTSD, social anxiety, nightmares, trust issues, etc…

Also on another website you can read:

This troubled teen home was full of abuse, torture, and lies! Hiding behind Christianity and God, this home used brainwashing tactics to manipulate parents and their daughters for personal monetary gain. However, behind those locked doors these girls were tortured with food restrictions, corporal punishments, and forced manual labor. "no talking or standing order" aka "Silence" was used so that the girl on punishment could not speak to anyone unless written on paper and given to staff. they were forced to stand for HOURS. they would force extra water to be consumed and restrict bathroom breaks to the point where girls would mess themselves. bruises the size of pancakes were left on the girls as a form of "corporal punishment." This was administered by the executive director or director given the girls beatings with paddles or paint sticks over and over and over....sometimes FOR NO REASON! I am a witness to this because I experienced it first hand. I am a survivor of this program and have many other survivors (past residents) who share in the PTSD, nightmares, social anxiety, and even physical health issues from the torture we all endured at this "God-built home." parents spent THOUSANDS even HUNDRED THOUSANDS of hard earned cash for help for their "troubled teen" and they ended up leaving with more trauma than they did going in. Now our truth can be heard!!

So something is not adding up. This place needs more investigation.

A Danish boarding school of the so-called "Efterskole" type in Denmark has expelled a student who in his private time during a weekend protested the Danish governments anti-Covid19 lockdowns as thousand of other Danes do.

Many smaller shops and dinner-places are closing down because the latest lockdown lasting from december 2020 until today has resulted in bankruptcy.

At those Danish boarding schools the students typically get the weekend off. Only 10 weekends per year are they required to remain at the school.

Based on the articles in Danish newspaper the student - a 16 year old boy - participated in the protests during his time off from the school. That means that his participation was a private political matter.  No place among the rules of the schools it is stated which political orientation the students are required to follow. It would be a crime to do so if they had specified it.

In Denmark every town has two types of test centers. A place for a PCR test and one or more places for the Quick tests where the personal extract samples of brain tissue with a very, very long stick through the nose. Most Danish firms, day schools and boarding schools require a test not older that 24 hours for Quick tests and 72 hour for PCR tests before allowing people to enter their property.

Many Danes are shocked. While most do not agree on public protests even when they lost their income, job and in some cases got their home foreclosed as result of the lockdown, they accept that protesting in person or online against the Danish governments Corona policy is legitimate.

This action of expelling a student is based on the students political view - not safety of the school or employees as they could have demanded a test before allowing him back to the school as almost every other school or firm does.

Gateway Freedom Ranch Abused Me (CHURCH OF PHILOSOPHICAL EXPLORATION)

Quote from: Caroline P.
Lisa (the director of Gateway Freedom Ranch) stole 6 figures from the partnering boys ranch. She completely traumatized me, convinced me that I was always lying and manipulating to get my way the entire way through the school. They never believed me. It was 18 months of pure trauma for me. I stood for 3 months all day as a punishment for not doing the dishes fast enough. The only time I could get off my feet was when I was sleeping. I even stood during school. They made me wash the dishes every day because I couldn't do them in time and when I was late they gave me rice and beans cold or rice and canned chicken.

I had fallen off of a horse and dislocated my tailbone which caused extreme pain. They offered to take me to the hospital but because I was wholeheartedly convinced I was an evil child just trying to manipulate I didn't go. Since I was standing it made the dislocation worse. I just found out recently that I wasn't bluffing about my back pain. I was on CBO (communication block out) for as long as I can remember so I was not allowed to talk to anyone unless it was an emergency and isolation so I couldn't bed near anyone. They had a list of questions we could ask.

We ran 1.2 miles every day even through the extreme fire smoke from California. If we got a certain amount of write ups they made us do 10 burpees for each one. If we threw up they didn't care. They would make us clear out the pinecones in the yard. One gallon paint bucket full of cones for each write up. Before that, it was one bucket of rocks. The school forced religion down my throat. I do not identify as a Christian because of these people. None of them had the licensing to be counselors for "troubled girls."

Every time I get depressed I have Lisa's voice in the back of my head saying I'm just doing it for attention. I of course was better at home because of all the gaslighting and assurance that I would be punished if I didn't do well on my home visits. 6 months after I got home for good I started rapidly declining and my parents sent me to Oak Ridge Military School right outside Greensboro, NC. That is where I really got help. I'm now 18 just beginning to understand the damage they did to me and my family. The reviews before mine are completely true. If your kid needs help DO NOT send them to Gateway Freedom Ranch.

Quote from: Rhanie T.
Gateway did not have the right idea when it came to consequences and just to how the program worked in general. I understand that they're trying to help but it just didn't.

Religion felt very forced on you. Some of the consequences they had were CBO Communication Block Out where u weren't aloud to talk to anybody and u were isolated from everybody, when u were not getting along with somebody they would put you in a hula hoop and u had to be with them and u had to stay in it until you figured out why you were in it together, if you didn't get your chores done on time you could get rice and beans cold sometime sit would be expired and they still make us eat it even if u threw up in the bowl they would still make u eat it, they would make u got out and stack wood outside even if it was dark and cold, for me they wanted me to learn a specific lesson that quite frankly i never figured out they made me do all the chores in the house and put me on a time limit while in a hula hoop with someone and stacking wood and cleaning CLEAN jars and if i didn't finish i got rice and beans and we were forced to write letters to our parents on sunday or we'd get rice and beans and that was the day i had most of my chores and if u dont finish showering on time they give rice and bean or make u do planks and workouts and if stopped the workout wed have to do it longer even if were in pain crying. Sometime s if one person makes a mistake in the house and no one confessed to it the whole house would be on lock down.

I don't recommend this place unless you want your child to be brainwashed or come back with more anxiety. And when you send them there they start to get issues like abandonment issues and very extreme issues. When i was sent there when i had been there for a while they'd keep telling me i hadn't fully confessed to everything when i told them everything and when i say everything i mean everything. And they kept saying i hadn't so eventually made up something so they'd stop and instead of talking about it they sent me to a wilderness program full of tromatized girls

Quote from: Makayla S.
100% agree with the last rating. I was sent here twice. Once I left I was diagnosed with PTSD from this place. What prompted me to write this review was the common night terror I had last night about the place. CBO (communication block out) and Isolation are common forms are punishment. Cold and unseasoned rice and beans are your meals as punishments. One time, every girl there had to eat that for 2 days straight, some of them even 3 days. Another punishment was they took away our mattresses and we had to sleep on the bars of our bunk beds, some girls got boards to lay on, but my bunk was a top metal bunk bed and I didn't get a board. Mail coming in and out gets opened by staff members and read before given to us or being sent out. Counselors aren't even licensed counselors. This place is supposed to be a behavioral boarding school, yet the only counselor that is licensed comes 3 times a year for parent weekends, at which time we didn't even get one on one time with him. Phone calls are listened in by staff members. Religion is shoved down your throat and you get told the only way you can go home is to follow god. Two girls that were there with me were forced to get their hair cut above their shoulders, one because the director claimed she was too prideful of her hair, and the other because she "played with it too much during group time." On top of all this, my dad (who did not want to send me back the second time I went) vividly remembers the director discussing other families financial problems with him over the phone. This place is cruel and corrupt. No child should go through what any girl went through there. One girl was one CBO for a month and a half straight, and if you talk when on CBO you are made to run 1.2 miles as punishment, as if being on CBO wasn't bad enough. Parents may see change when their child comes home but it doesn't last. If you really want to get you child help, get them a REAL counselor, don't sent them halfway across the country and make them have a terrible fear of abandonment and live in constant fear that everything I'm their life could be ripped away from them at anytime. Thanks for taking the time to read this..

Inspired by Paris Hilton, woman says Utah ranch punished her for reporting assaults
By Annie Knox, Deseret News, February 21 - 2021

SALT LAKE CITY — Motivated to come forward after Paris Hilton’s allegations of abuse at a Provo center for troubled teens, a Colorado woman is suing a different Utah program.

Turn-About Ranch in Escalante punished Hannah Archuleta after she reported sexual assaults by an employee, she alleges in her lawsuit filed Wednesday in Garfield County’s 6th District Court.

Archuleta joins Hilton and several others now advocating for better state oversight of the centers where they say employees victimized them, but they couldn’t get help because they didn’t have access to the outside world.

“There appears to be a major problem in Utah,” Archuleta’s attorney, Gloria Allred, said in reference to the residential rehab facilities for teens.

Turn-About Executive Director Michelle Lindsay did not immediately return a phone message left Wednesday for comment.

Archuleta said she was inspired by Hilton to come forward. She and Allred urged Utah lawmakers to pass the same bill Hilton endorsed earlier this month in at-times tearful testimony at the state Capitol.

“I am here today to spread the message to every parent in America: Do not send your children to these places or endorse them,” Archuleta said.

SB127, which awaits a vote in the House, would require the treatment centers to submit monthly reports to the Utah Office of Licensing, among other changes.

Archuleta alleges she was whisked to the ranch in southern Utah in 2019 when she was 17, just after appearing on a TV segment of “Dr. Phil.” He’s a proponent of Turn-About who recommended the program to her family, the lawsuit says.

At the time, Archuleta had recently learned her mother was terminally ill with liver failure, she said Wednesday.

She says she was too scared to tell anyone the first time the man groped her in a kitchen about a week and a half after she arrived.

But after the same employee “aggressively” and inappropriately touched her in late November or early December 2019 while she was retrieving a dish from a cabinet, Archuleta told three female employees about the incident. She was told to write a detailed letter describing the assaults, according to the lawsuit.

She provided the letter to someone in management that described what happened, but claims in the lawsuit that the man she identified as her aggressor didn’t face meaningful discipline and the ranch didn’t notify police.

Rather, its staffers forced her to sleep on a wooden plank with no pillow, verbally abused her, threatened violence and forced her to work outside in below-freezing temperatures, the lawsuit says.

She claims she was denied access to the bathroom and was assigned her “reflection” time, which consisted of picking up horse manure, walking in circles around a horse corral for hours, or staying at a desk facing a wall for hours.

One employee, a “residential coach,” accused Archuleta of lying “because you’re crying so much” and “only liars cry,” the suit says.

After writing home to describe the abuse, her father, Tony Archuleta, retrieved her from the ranch in December 2019. Although he filed a report with the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, the case isn’t moving forward, he said.

“I had sent her there because I was told she would receive the education and therapy that would help her,” he said.

The man remained at work and had one-on-one interactions with other girls, despite another also reporting that he sexually assaulted her, Archuleta alleges in the suit.

She’s suing for negligent hiring and supervision, assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, and she’s seeking damages to be awarded at trial.

The ranch is facing an earlier lawsuit from the widow of a counselor who was beaten to death by a teenager who was suicidal and addicted to drugs in 2016. The suit alleges the ranch wasn’t equipped to handle someone with those issues.
