Elan School / My condolences ......

Thanks, man.  We have the ashes and they periodically drop when one of the cats is misbehaving.

My other cat is a psycho.  She attacked my new dog last night.

No problem.  Elan 7 seemed like a jail.  I'm sorry you had to experience it.  And that "mighty, mighty Bucs" cheer!   I still hear that cheer in my head sometimes.

Wanna hear a funny story?  When we used to watch the Elan 7 cross-country people run, we used to mimic them by talking like Soviets in those bad '80s movies.[ This Message was edited by: Pete on 2005-07-18 14:21 ]

That guy is interesting, Ginger.  I am going to online college right now -- scheduled to graduate next year.  For the most part, it is a complete waste of time.  I feel like I'm just doing time so I can get a piece of paper that seems to impress employers.  I already make pretty good money, but I've been told that somewhere down the line, dropping out could bite me in the ass.  So I plod through it.  Less than a year to go!

Fourth, the alternative is pretty easy to understand if you turn off the idiot box and crack a book once in awhile. Teenagers rebel against the way we're treating them these days because we're treating them inapropriately for their age. They're not little children;
they're young adults. Down through history, people have been considered more-or-less adults at around the age of 15. The way we're doing it now, they can't do anything important till the magical age of 18, when we then expect them to suddenly and magically become adults.

Ginger, you hit the nail on the head.  I never thought of it that way.  That paragraph alone, I think, will help me be a better parent when I have kids.

I agree with you, Chrysta, on that point.  Most (not all) of the E-8 staff wanted the best for us (possible exceptions are Jenn E. and Jenn C.)  If there was one staff who dispensed the most responsible therapy, it was Marian.  I liked Marc and Clare, but I disagree with them on significant issues.  But they all wanted the best for us and are good people, in my opinion.

As for the Elan 7 kids, I am filled with pity.  That house was AWFUL!  Tania Merette makes me sick.  Both of Elan's senior directors (Tania and Marty) should be fired.

Like I said before.  She went to Elan and she's on this board.  Maren is one of the nicest people here and I'm sure she never hurt you.  Give her a break.

Don't make us start another fucking tea party on Fornits.

I think Skakel did lie about stuff in Elan.  I don't think he killed her either, but that's irrelevant.  I think a lot of us told a lot of lies in Elan.  We were immature and fucked up kids.   We are adults today and that crap is in the past.

As for the humor, what I find funny, you might not.  That's OK, to each his/her own.  I happen to have a very twisted sense of humor and laugh at stuff other people might not find funny.

Yes, I know what creates those nasty threads.  But as fellow posters and people who went through hell at Elan, we need to share at least a basic level of respect for each other.  You are here and you went to Elan.  You have a right to be here, therefore I will respect and not degrade you.  All I ask is that you extend me the same courtesy.

Thanks,
Pete

What do other people think about Scientology and Elan anyway?

Please people?  I challenge more crap on these boards than most people.  I get called a lot of names.  I state controversial opinions people don't agree with and take a lot of abuse for it.  I have been threatened, bullied, challenged to fights, had my wife's name degraded and had all sorts of shit from Elan dragged onto here for no good reason at all.  If I'm trying to please people, I'm doing a lousy job.

I didn't laugh at the jokes to please the guy.  I think it's pretty funny, the same way South Park, Beavis and Butt-head and Truly Tasteless Jokes are funny.  He's done a lot of stuff I don't agree with, but the jokes make me laugh.  As for how we look, this board has no credibility to start with.  Calling each other names doesn't make us look good on here either.

That being said, I appreciate your more civil manner and I hope the nastiness toward each other can stop.  That's not being a people-pleaser, it's just exercising people skills.

I'm not avoiding anything.  I have no problem with gay people.  I support gay marriage and don't think it's a "disorder."  If I were gay, I would have ZERO problem admitting it.

Maybe one day, I'll wake up and be magically gay, but it hasn't happened yet.  Sorry.

Maybe you had a conversation with me about this stuff in Elan.  But I have some news for you.  A lot of the stuff I talked about in Elan was totally fake.  I lied about a lot in my past in Elan to try to make myself sound worse than I was.

Regardless, you seem to have known me very well in Elan and I would welcome a message from you to discuss this further.  If nothing else, you could settle the score with an old nemesis.

I'm not gay.  Who's kissing Nazi's ass?  Nazi hasn't been here in months.  If he's under a different name, he certainly doesn't pick on any board members anymore.

You're right.  All those things are wrong.  But how can you rail about racism and then say those horrible things about someone?

You don't know me... not really well, anyway.  If we've ever met, we haven't seen each other in years.  I'm sure you've changed a lot since Elan and I certainly have.  So why drag some long-standing resentment you had against me on here?

Look, if you're a real man, send me a PM (hell, do it under a fake name if it makes you happy) and rant all you want.  I'll listen and talk to you in a matter-of-fact way and I won't be vindictive or try to hurt you.  But let's keep this board peaceful and focus on the real issue, which is free speech about Elan, OK?

Back to Scientology and Elan.

Sure, that's right, I'm gay.  I'm also horny.  Be careful, I might come on to you.  You know how those gay people are.

I interviewed your Dad once, Jason.  Long story.  He also threatened to sue my company for a lot of money.  I can laugh about it now.

You sound like you've come a long way.  Good for you.

I've probably had my share of run-ins with the guy who calls himself The Elan Reporter, but I think his "articles" are pretty funny.  I guess it's a matter of taste.  If you like South Park, you'll like The Elan Reporter.
