We are considering wisdom ranch.  I'd sure like to hear something about it.

They know that it is human nature to take up causes whereby a man may oppress his neighbor, no matter how unjustly. ... Hence they have had no trouble in finding men who would preach the damnability and heresy of the new doctrine from the very pulpit.

Not very much info is outthere because it is a small independent place.

I found an article from the marketing firm for the industry (http://http://www.strugglingteens.com/archives/2003/2/wisdomranchschool.html) and it seems that they unlike most places adjust the program to the need of the individual child.

They also dont take all clients which is very important. If they allow children to be dragged or transported to their program, you can bet that it is all about money.

But because you are in the process of giving them the most important person in your life, you have to check the following things and post the answers here, so we can help you further.

* Communication - with who and how often. Dont give them a number of months without calls "in order to let the child adjust to the program". It is in this period abuse often take place. Are the child allowed to write with the extended family?
* Home visits - how often.
* Food - some program leaves out important vitamins, so the body and spirit weakens. But it also makes the child an easier target for illness
* Consequences: Corporal punishment, work assignments (The movie Holes (http://http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0311289/) gives a good insight in some ranch orientated programs despite that it is a comedy)
* Parent seminars: Some programs use the same methods as the time-share scam industry or multi-level marketing companies without a product to sell (One of the founders of a very large multi-level marketing company did in fact learn how to use this strategy when he was placed at CEDU (http://http://www.secretprisonsforteens.dk/fornitswiki/index.php/CEDU) many years back. He died very alcoholized)

We are looking forward to receive the info you can digg up. Always ask questions before you send a child. It is a little too late once he returns in a coffin like all too many parents have experienced.

This is not a good place. I'll leave it at that.
