The point Zen is that you dont know Dominic's situation and you slander him by your words. I hope you get suid! You have no right to bring his name into your forum. And if you are so unhappy with your step daughters treatment, then remove her from PV. But wait! You don't have custody do you? Wonder why?

I know Hawranke personally, and think that all this bullshit going around on the forums and internet should really just stop. It has been several years, he's done his time. Let things disipate? Every time you put his name out there it just brings up the past. Daily Progress no longer has anything published on the net about him. He works hard, and deserves to have his privacy back. I think it's fine that you express your opinions about PV, but leave names out of it. The point of PV is to get your life back on track, and this bullshit on the net really doesn't help that, don't you think?? You should think twice before mindlessly chatting about someone else's life. It's immature. Assholes.

It is a shame this topic had to be brought to the front page again. I understand that Dominic went through close to two years of PV and is doing well. I agree, he does deserve to have his privacy back. In his case PV was an attractive alternative to jail. PV accepted him against their admissions policy, but what is their admissions policy? My experience with PV is that they will admit and treat a patient according to the wishes of the parent who is paying for it. In other words...what kind of patient does PV admit? Any patient whose parent can pay the tuition.

Thanks Kreflo, I have an update...I received the 411 that Peninsula Village only has been sold to a private sector, for profit organization.  The real kicker? Peninsula Hospital (across the street from the village) and the other Peninsula outpatient facilities remain with Covenant Health.

OK. I am a little behind the times. Wonder if the ICU would allow a couple of PV protesters to hang around their outstanding sign.

Any news? I am curious as to what the issue is... Covenant Health may well decide that having Peninsula Village in its stable is more trouble than it's worth!

Hi Ursus, I will probably find out more tomorrow at work. I will post whatever news I get tomorrow evening. I will be surprised if local media gives it any attention.

I have heard there is a person standing outside of a CH concern today with a large sign that says SHAME ON COVENANT HEALTH

I am not sure if this has anything to do with PV, but if it does I will try to post more info.

There is an interesting post on the Facility Q and A thread- Parents think before sending a child to Peninsula Village.

Comment: There is a parent who wants to enroll her son in a placement/wilderness school. She has instilled her trust in me to find the best placement for her son. Her son has self esteem issues, problems respecting teachers and smokes marijuana. She is a single parent whereas she is not equipped to deal with the problems. If you could answer the following questions via. e-mail, that would be helpful. How many times per month do students call their parents? How often do students visit their parents at home? Are students allowed to call the state abuse hotline if they witness physical abuse, emotional abuse, verbal abuse, sleep deprivation or food/water deprivation?

Sincerely,

We are not classified as a wilderness program or school. We are licensed as a residential treatment facility. Our average length of stay is around 1 year.Contact with parents is once per week during a family therapy session. During the first phase of our program the patients are not allowed any additional visitation or phone privileges. During the second phase progression through the level system will allow the patients to earn additional visitation and phone calls but it is a slow, progressive schedule of visits and ultimately ends with 2-3 extended home visits prior to discharge.

We absolutely have a process in place for reporting mistreatment. The patients would complete a patient advocate request form and the patient advocate would then make sure the patient is allowed a private phone call to report any alleged abuse. As a facility we would also make the call if we believed any of our patients are being mistreated.

I am glad Kelly clarified what PV is...For several years I have seen ads and promos describing PV as a school, a wilderness program an RTC etc... After the first round of hearings they started to emphasize the licensed residential treatment facility label. Licensed...license...my experience with PV makes me consider those words so carefully now.
Contact with the parent who is paying for the procedure PV performs might be once a week. A parent who is not paying, and who is not sold on the program (100% on board in the words of former program director Adam McLain) might not get to see their child at all.
Kelly neglects to mention that the first phase of their program, the part where the children are in lock down on the admissions unit described by one leading advocate as "a fire trap" has no determinate time. I have been in contact with many PV patients who were in STU for three months or longer.
The process PV had in place to report mistreatment when my daughter was there was tearing up advocate request forms, telling the children they were "manipulating", ridiculing the child, and perhaps assigning a "consequence".
PV making a phone call to "report a mistreated child"??????? I have to decline comment on my personal experience with this one for now.
It  looks good though when trying to sell a parent on the program.

It appears as though this post goes out to all of PV's major recruiting hubs. One came out of Knoxville, another out of Atlanta GA and now this one out of the RD area. Any negative response to Rpatter about PV gets deleted and the poster will get their account suspended for trolling. Pathethic really...

he said that this was a strange call and that he was hanging up after i asked him how he felt about lying to parents that are just desperately trying to help their kids

Like I said in my last post...I am glad you came back. I have nothing but high regard for all the former PV patients I have come to know. Please don't stop what you are doing. I think it is just a matter of time before other kids start to question the program and it will only happen if people like you continue to speak up. You are two years ahead of my daughter leaving PV. She still finds it extremely difficult to talk about. If you get uneasy on Fornits there are other forums where you can tell your story or give your opinions and ideas. My favorite is FICAN   http://fican.freeforums.org/peninsula-village-f23.html

Peninsula Village / Re: Getting Records From PV - URGENT

where can i view the costs of getting my records?
if i have a therapist or psychiatrist that ive known for years request the record, should they check for patients request or for care?
if i dont get the entire record, how can i ensure that i get the rest?
and what are the limitations? i was there in 03-04... would i still be able to get mine?

Hi milk blood,
I am glad you came back. You can actually request your own records from PV, but if you prefer to have your care provider send for them (which is a good idea for some people because in several cases even seasoned therapists have found the records shocking to read)
You should still be able to get your records because PV keeps them on the premises. I have heard some kids say they were told their records would be destroyed after five years but I think that is another way to discourage former patients from asking for them. There is no reason why you shouldn't get all of your records, but if you feel that some are missing, you should take measures to resolve the error in a reasonable fashion. After that...
You will have to call to get the exact fee for your records.  If you are uncomfortable, ask your therapist to call for you.
They are expensive, but we have a small fund set up for kids who might need some financial help.

If anyone else has something to add here please feel free.

The above links to a cached page. The original post has gone missing, a common occurrence when locals attempt to get information on the Village. Below is a c and p of the post. Just another example of local "professionals" who don't really know what goes on in the confines of the PV. I wonder if SmokeyMtnGal gets paid for the referrals she makes to the PV.

Robert,

I do not have personal experience but I do have professional experience. Peninsula is a very well run and quality facility. It's parent company is Covenant Health and they are a well run, quality health system in the community. I would not hesitate to make a referral to Peninsula. While it is located in Louisville, it is actually quite near the Knoxville airport in case you were in need of a reference.

I hope this helps some? Good luck.

Prof. Angela Davis cites the Klepper case in her book Arbitrary Justice: The Power of the American Prosecutor...

http://books.google.com/books?id=YMZ543KzcO0C

On page 49 she describes Andrew's opportunity to "receive rehabilitative treatment at the Tennessee facility."

I have not read the book, but the excerpts on Klepper can be previewed in the link above.
