The number of drug users in that age group are going down.

3 years ago 36 percent of the agegroup between 16 and 20 had tried drugs. Today it is only 30 percent.

Of course the area has been researched and the main reason are that they learn by their own and their friends experiences.

Among the younger agegroup between 15 and 16 the number are still high. 5,2 percent had tried ecstacy.

It seems that the drug use is a question about satiety and curiosity.

The try it and when they no longer feel that it does anything good for them they stop without help.

From the homepage of: White Rock academy:

Visitation is highly recommended. We encourage parents and guardians to transport the student to or from the facility. A lot of times this is not feasibly possible. But we enjoy visits from families to personally get to know them. Visitation during the stay is not always possible.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Compare statistics
« on: November 15, 2007, 12:42:35 AM »
I would like to compare statistics. Here are the numbers for Denmark (Age group 13-15).

The European School Survey Project on alcohol and other drugs - The numbers for Denmark (2003)

Drinking alcohol at least one time during the last 12 months: 95%
Been drunk at least one time during the last 12 months: 82%
Ever been smoking normal tocacco: 64%
Smoking the last 30 days: 30%
Have tried marijuana or hashish in lifetime: 23%
Same question about other drugs: 6%
Same question about inhalants: 8%
Same question about using others doctor prescription drugs: 4%
Been using alcohol combined with pills: 7%

No alarming numbers but numbers, which should ensure recruitment for the night owls, because if the youngster are having emotional problems while drinking or smoking, there should be adults outthere to talk with them.

What are your numbers?

I know that it is not my business, but if you are saying what I think that you are saying then wait a little.

A heavy task is in front of you. Before you take the next step, please fill out this page.

Fornits Wiki

If your inputs are not communicated to the world, teenagers will continue to experience the same you did go through. Find inspiration here:

Kids helping Kids page on Fornits Wiki

While you are at it, write a book about your stay, so you can get it out of your system. Writing a book is like cutting. It feels good to let something go from you system and it is a lot healthier.

I don't know the exact location in Hell where the founders learned their businesses but what I can promise you an improvement from the conditions while you were in the program. A guy stated on another webpage what he thought back when he was in a program:

The only problem with going to sleep here is the fact that I at some point is going to wake up here.

You are out!

You are going to wake up to a beautiful morning!

Trust me on this!

The Troubled Teen Industry / Not even the surroundings have an impact
« on: November 13, 2007, 09:56:15 AM »
When I was a child, I saw Huset på Christianshavn every day. It was a family show. Here are two clips from Youtube

Making own beers. The wife who is entering the flat in the end was at that time the wife of the serving prime minister of Denmark. Unlike Arnold and Reagan housemembers of the serving politicians can be active actors.

Another clip

Notice there are beers everywhere and it is a family show. Some claim that it is the number of drinkers in your home that makes it more likely that you will end up consuming alcohol big time, when you are grown, but the funny thing is that it is the swedish youngsters, who are partying in Denmark, who ends up drunk.

While alcohol is seen among teenagers as young as 11 to 13, they have all sobered up when they are adult. It is not funny anymore.

I also have to link to this survey:

http://www.espad.org/sa/node.asp?node=652

about danish youth aged 13 - 15.

This survey, which coveres Europe hammer any suggestion that an early introduction to alcohol will destroy people lives, because we do not have the numbers of deaths, people in prison or even a high number of teenage pregnacies to back that statement.

Youth drink and after a while they discover that there are so many other things in the world, they would miss if they do not sober up and there is a lot of help to get because we all have tried to drink alcohol we also know how to stop. It can be done locally and in many case in the family without outside involvement.

We do not know what causes alcoholism. I saw a sign once:

I am not an alcoholic
I am a drunk
(Note: Alcoholics attend meetings)

Maybe it is the only difference.

Yes, of course the concern is keeping kids from killing themselves, as opposed to stopping the conditions that make them want to commit suicide.

First of all, they are convicted in a court of law. They have to be kept somewhere in a secure environment.

We have a problem right now. The problem is lack of responsibility by the politician in the city halls.

When a person is arrested by the police and a judge has decided that they can not be free until the trial is over, then the State pays for their stay in a secure facility. But once the verdict is handed out the city hall has to decide where the offender has to serve time. Some cities has to be fined before they come into action. That takes up costly space and sometimes even bank robbers are let loose because there is no space in a juvenile facility and it is forbidden to detain them in an adult facility. Cash management is hurting these young people, who should be guided into a facility where they could serve time AND learn some skills.

Then when they are release the easies way to prevent new crime is to give them a job and a small room if they can not live with their family. The root to all evil is unemployment. There are a lot of jobs to get in Denmark. In fact we have a shortage of manpower.

But once again they are let down. They have to adjust over time to a life as a free person. The city hall should have brought them home to a small room not bigger than a cell which is locked by the night and a job during the day (combined with a GPS-bracelet). Once they have served time fully, the lock and the GPS-bracelet is removed and they continue in their job until they themselves decide what to do with their future.

You have a similar case in Texas where Michael Perry is on deathrow. He started a life of crime after being kicked out of Casa by the Sea with no ID and it did cost innocent lives. He should have been marched down to the nearest burger joint and put into action, given a small room with a bed and a mentor, who could sit and listen to him. Those lives he took could have been saved.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Rare input about how conditions are in Denmark
« on: November 08, 2007, 09:12:10 AM »
On Denmark Radio number one - one of our televisions stations you can see a rare documentary about one of our three "Supermax prisons" for youth under 18.

The program is called "DR1 Dokumentaren - børn bag tremmer" (DR1 documentary - children behind bars).

Here is a link to the streaming interface.

Instructions:

1) Click Start dr.dk tv - a new window opens
2) Click on Programmer
3) Scroll down until you can click on DR1 Dokumentaren - børn bag tremmer and click it.
4) Click Se program and you are on.

The children all someone, who are considered extremely dangerous and are between 15 to 18 years of age. They are all convicted for various things like extreme violence, car-stealing include high speed chase or murder.

It is only in Danish by you can see how different our environments are in such facilities compared to your juvenile jails.

The program brought some criticism on. Not due to the treatment but to the lack of the aftercare program, which is non-existing if the person is released when he or she is adult, because they fall in a gab between the juvenile prison system and the adult prison system.

Another note is that it is the exact same facility where a girl managed to kill herself regardless of the - if you take into consideration that it is going on in Denmark - intense security.

The Troubled Teen Industry / We do not have much
« on: November 06, 2007, 03:18:37 PM »
I have received info about the length of the program being about 18 months and the fact that the lockup should be located a couple of miles from their official address.

What I have got is stated here:

Fornits Wiki page

A couple of month we had another tread on here, which you can see on the link. Maybe someone has a contract or something so we can publish a satellite picture of the prison where they detain those unlucky girls.

Help please. I am not in the neighborhood, so I can not drive to the town and look for myself.

Does anyone have time for a trip to Indiana?

The Troubled Teen Industry / You have to read the book
« on: November 05, 2007, 11:52:41 PM »
From wikipedia about DeSisto school:

Quote
Author Roger Kahn, in the last chapter of his book Into My Own (2006), describes the negative experiences he had with Michael DeSisto, and the school's family therapy workshops he attended in 1979 with his son, who committed suicide in 1987.

If you want to create a webpage so parents would read them, you have to give them a teaser, so they will read the full horror BEFORE they ship their son or daugther away.

What happened at the DeSisto schools was nothing more or less than what takes places every day somewhere in the States.
