Facility Question and Answers / Re: Lifeway
« on: September 20, 2011, 03:49:50 AM »
On my mind again. It is bugging me. There was a recent reunion, and once again everyone has their heads in the clouds. "It is great!"....Goes on and on. I could go into details but then others would know who I am. You guys know who I am, and that is cool, but I am hiding out from, "Loveya man". You don't know shit about me. I finally watched, "Crossing the GW". It felt familiar. Too familiar. This had to come out of me. How I escaped all the life of PDAP, I will never know. I just did. Was I sober, different question. My old AA sponsor came on FB and started a fight with me recently. He said I was a "hoarder". The new disease! WTF! I blocked the MF! I have so little patience for all this anymore. Little to none. I am who I am. Take it or leave it!

TX is troubled teen heaven for an investigator. I imagine San Marcos is the former Devereaux. It was G-d awful from what I heard. I heard more than one count, too. As for PI's, I want others to know that, there is a 10 year limitation on lawsuits. I got sucked in by a PI one time and after telling him what I saw and how I was treated, he told me. Be wary.

Mr. B.,
I had no idea that was a newer building. i thought they were all as old as Cheavens. Cheavens had no hot water and 1 bathroom for every 8 women. Dreadful. Simply dreadful.

There was no newly constructed adolescent unit that I recall because the adolescent unit was  attached to Chevens. Burkett Was the only new newly constructed unit at that time. Burkett 1 & 2 were adult units.

First off who is the gatekeeper? Getting back to the dances, we had one at Halloween on the unit. The staff was thrilled that an older man kept asking me to dance. That night i used dancing to manipulate them. I did not care about him. They all were ready to let me date him. Me, I was like, eh, whatever? The place stole my youth too. We did have chair time on hard chairs and controlled bathroom usage. It was insane! IAmArtsy.

I was there from 1987-1988. It was even stricter by then. I was on Unit for 3-6 months with 3 classes, I think. Eventually I got to the next level whatever it was. I never got to grounds. I left "At Patient's Request" and my parents. They were often dismayed by my treatment and the lack of health care. At one point I had untreated bronchitis while they were visiting. People were in restraints for MONTHS on end! It was crazy. I tried to go unnoticed most of the time. I do still have nightmares about the abuse I saw. Then there was room and chair, for life it seemed. Look up the book Bedlam. It speaks about what we went through. http://http://www.amazon.com/Bedlam-Profiteering-Mental-Health-System/dp/0312104219/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1306189601&sr=1-7

Much of what is in that book happened right after my incarceration at Timberlawn, but resembles the abuses. Please stay in touch on the board.

Psych Hospitals / Psychiatric Hospital Abuse
« on: January 12, 2011, 04:54:58 AM »
Before any parent sends there child or young adult packing to a program please read the 1994 book by Joe Sharkey, "Bedlam: Greed, Profiteering, and Fraud in a Mental Health System Gone Crazy," also read this, http://http://www.tldp.com/issue/162/162psych.htm. It looks like this type of torture is back and people need to know what they are getting into. I was lured into it and have never gotten over it. I wish I had. Unfortunately, I still hurt myself, and am still if not more so, the family scapegoat! I hate it that I hurt myself but the programs never fixed that, and I am becoming more of the scapegoat as the years progress. I am 47 and have been caring for my parents for 15 years while my family has traveled here there and everywhere. Meanwhile, I have continued to be abused by my family and those around me. Hospitals and programs don't cure they just make things worse! Remember that as you look in this!

Psych Hospitals / Re: Psychiatric care's peril and profits - PSI

They go even further back:
http://http://www.openpr.com/news/130929/Pinnacle-Pointe-Hospital-Hosts-the-2010-Youth-Suicide-Prevention-Poetry-and-PSA-Awards.html

I  had to dig for this. I knew there was one in a city close to where I lived at one time. They closed down shortly after a book exposed them in 1993 or so.

Ursus...you are the best though at this research. Someone tried to talk me into going into Sierra Vista at one time and I said, "HELL NO!". I guess I had that pegged right.

At various times I have come across my captors, and debated what to do. In the end, I did nothing! I wanted to write them and say, "Did you really believe in what you were doing?". I did not not do that. It is hard. Day in and day out I soul search.

What would you do?

PSI : I just noticed these guys are operating in a big way again in TX! They have taken over many of the facilities that fed into Timberlawn. The names of the facilities were Devereux. I have noticed that none of the original facilities take credit of the people they treated. Hm-mm: Maybe because they kept sending them from place to place to place.

PSI is frighting at best. That is all I can say. They are moving rapidly again throughout various states. They also appear to taking over various Brown Schools. It looks like they claim to work  out of TN. So beware where you send your child. The facility might have a past. A long and sordid one.

The Troubled Teen Industry / Re: Kids in Program Credible?
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:24:29 PM »
I had no "history of lying and manipulation"! I was totally credible, and my parents knew it from the day I took them out to the ball field and told them the truth about the facility I was in. They started adding things up, and kept track of the lies. When the shit hit the fan, my parents knew who was telling the truth. It was not the facility. It was there lesbian daughter! I was simply sent away for being lesbian! I was discharged at patient's request, and rightfully so! Programs are NEVER credible. Get a grip.

Saying they will discharge you AMA (against medical advice) meaning insurance won't pay the mega bill. Also they will put you on suicide watch; thus, forcing you to have a hearing with a court and little if no representation for you! When they pulled this on me, I was not suicidal! I was finally discharged "at patient's request". The insurance paid but it was like a "scarlet letter". It really mean they had screwed up and and they knew it. It was that or malpractice!

From the Washington Post: http://http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/17/AR2010091705376.html

I am glad that President Obama is being asked to look at it. I find ECT alone to be repugnant and have seen its harmful effects. Operant Conditioning goes way beyond that! There was a really good episode of Law and Order about Operant Conditioning and its effects.
