I am replying to this b/c I want to know and no one has responded. Also Steve Turney, John Gugliamo, Rob Hockersmith, Richard Mullinax, Dave Hubbard, and any others from Springfield.

last time I googled Rob Hockersmith someone by that name turned up in a (totally unrelated) news story in Leesburg, VA.
Is Steve Turney really spelled Tierney? (i don't know, and i'm not being a spelling nazi, in this case it makes a difference if anyone is searching for him.)
note on Rob: i thought he was nice, he took my side when other people wanted to stand up and be mean. does anyone remember when he brought a boom box (yes that is the proper term) to a Saturday night "love rap" (when we sat in a huge square on the floor in the back of the main room). he played "sweet emotion", and sweet it was after not hearing music for months. then someone else, probably exec staff, came in and gave him shit for it and made him shut it off. i wonder if he was being subversive on purpose. so i do not reveal his location in order to put him in a frying pan. however, i wish more staff members would come around and tell what they have to tell. (Don Smith has an excellent paper about the whole thing of being staff.)
nevertheless, regarding all adult staff, you must step up for the crimes you commit. i'm all for blowing the cover right off. as has been discussed before, none of them are contacting survivors to see how we are. now that's not true, we have several ex-staff members around, who do really good things, such as Don's paper (i'm pretty sure it's on the ISAC site).
same as with Abu Ghraib, the little guys have been made to take the heat, when they are factually a part of something ordered down from a big guy. it is correct to pay for the crimes you commit, however, uncover the chain of command.
but then there are, as you and others have mentioned assholes like John Gugliamo. but if he was a big dumb retard, as has also been suggested, who is it we really want to get?
lately i have been drawing the line at exec staff: they were in a certain position, and not fresh off the brainwashing ranks like junior & senior staff. however i am open to discussion and revision on that.
but then i am back to: step up for the crimes you commit. if junior or senior staff were ignorant of the brainwashing aspects, that might be understandable, but physical and emotional abuse is what it is.
sorry i am going in circles! i could get a lot trippier on the whole justice system, etc., or on the state of consciousness regarding drugs, paranoia of the state, and other tangents.

I didn't necessarily post all those names b/c I wanted to find out where they are and harass them, I'm really just curious. Tierney/Turney in particular was like a God when I was in there. I was scared shitless of him and I kinda just want to see that he is a normal person now. My favorite of this bunch was Mullinax...he inspired (sorry for the straight cliche) me to become a musician b/c of his love raps. He was a genuine person and rarely abused his power. I liked hockersmith, too, but I know someone who hates him, so I guess we all had different experiences even though we were in there together.
I agree, I think there's a line between laystaff and executives, that was their career and they were much more informed about what they were doing to us. I have said this before, but I think the paraprofessionals were victims, too. For many, they had no other skills but "straightness", so staff was an easy fit. Combine that with favoritism and bullshit training, and voila...insta-staff! And I'm not saying this to protect myself...I never made it beyond 3rd phase in 2 years, and that was for like 3 days.
My wife became a paraprofessional after she graduated...actually she was one of those who sat on the stool before she graduated. I was not in there with her, but I know she wasn't one of those nazi-types. She loved the kids in there and wanted to help/thought she was helping. And many (on this board and elsewhere) say she was a strong light in a dark place. She quit when they found out about her withdraw boyfriend. She's a social worker now, works in the juvie detention...and the kids love her. I think she is a wonderful person and clinician despite straight. She is one of those rare people that could find a positive message even in there and use it caringly, unlike so many of us for whom life became black and white.
I know this is a very unpopular stance to take on this board...so I'm ready for the flogging. :grin:

i also do not wish to "harass" anyone, that would be petty and unsatisfying considering the amount of pain they (choose your own "they") caused us.
i do wish to blow the cover off. for example, didn't Newton or one of those guys lose his job at a school when some folks here found out where he was, and then took it upon themselves to clue the school in to the FACTS regarding his history of criminal child abuse?
as far as i know, exec staff has never done time for their crimes. they have not yet made reparation to society, they have (mostly) not yet been revealed to society.
(when i talk like this, i start to assume the missouri or mississipi accent of some lawyer i seen in a movie. i do not know why.)

He was trying to get a license to work as a psychologist with troubled kids. After the state was informed AGAIN of his past he was only allowed to work UNDER another psychologist. Well, ya know how well THAT went over with him. He quit. :lol: :lol:

shady grove, i'm curious now. is your wife kim hyde? she was on staff for a while and then left suddenly. later i heard a rumor that she'd had a boyfriend who was a druggie or a withdrawal. i've always wondered what happened to her, especially because she was one of the very few staff who did seem to have a heart.
all i know about leslie murden, if i'm thinking of the right person (brunette of about 26 yrs as i recall) is that she had her wisdom teeth removed while in the program while on first or a low phase. i attended, and she was not allowed (of course) any pain medication. they did sedate her, but no pain med. i was gone while she was on low phases, so i didn't know she bought into the whole thing and became a bitch staff member. what a sad story.

(Senior staff Supervisor) Steve Tourney was one scary dude... when he layed into you...you knew it...he had those evil blue eyes...and he had that lisp thing that would cause him to spit when he talked...and he was sooooooo condenscending...
He used to have a pet timber wolf. I remember him bringing it into the back of group once... he was also famous for having paranah(sp?) in his office... satff woul come into group and talk about feeding mice to them...
Over the years I have heard rumours that he is dead...I have also heard rumours that he is/was gay... after I finally escaped that place in 89 I would sometimes see and/or hang out with staff members... (i.e. Jason H., Alicia P., Brendan M., Chris S., Margaret C., Mike R., Mike K., Richard M., Shane W., Craig S.) I always tried to dig up info on Steve...but I never ran into him... I have no idea what happened to him...I was always curious what he would be like on the outside...
either way...he was one of the most intimidating people in that place...

If you are still looking for K1m Hyd3 anon...I have information about why she left staff.... In a bizarre coincidence I found out last week that she is my best friend's ex wife. I have known her for many years As Kim #$#@@##@ she did not keep the name Hyd3 when she got married. She is doing well for herself. If you want more details PM me.

Lotta names on this board and in the preceding pages that I haven't heard in over 20 years. Interesting, as both my bor and I are still straight after all these years. Yea, we survived and got outta there fast and never looked back. Looks like many folks are still stuck in the same shit and never got over it or moved on. For me, I needed to get out, grad. college, get married, 3 kids, and career Army. Been great, and STR8 was a part of it. Similar with the bro.
