Paul Newman (Newman's Own) contributed a significant amount of money to Straight, Inc., according to a news article (see post below for full text) from 1992. I'm looking for a list of his current charities. Maybe we could take our story to him and ask for funds for our side of the cause now.

Oh shit! Here I was thinking spending that little extra money for his salad dressing was doing some good and instead it helped the continuation of my teenage demise.

Any ideas what the T-shirts should say? I'm not an artistic person so this would require some iron ons.

LENGTH: 357 words

HEADLINE: Paul Newman donates nearly $8 million to charity from 1991 sales of
Newman's Own food products

DATELINE: WESTPORT, Conn.

BODY:

After receiving the final 1991 sales figures and carefully reviewing thousands of donation requests, Paul Newman, president of Newman's Own and A.E. Hotchner, executive vice president, are pleased to announce that close to $8 million dollars has been donated to a wide variety of educational and charitable
causes. The spectrum of charities to which Newman's Own donates is as diverse as its product lines. An overview of the charity groups are: 38 percent medical and
health related causes, 12 percent children/youth programs, 12 percent education, 10 percent environment, 8 percent programs for the needy, 6 percent substance abuse programs, 2 percent emergency donations--such as The American Red Cross disaster relief funds.

The charities range from local charities such as Penelope House, a shelter for battered women in Alabama, to national organizations such as Literacy
Volunteers of America.  And geographically donations span such organizations as the Aslan House for children with cancer in Florida, the Denver Bronco Youth
foundation, the Rainbow Child Development Center in Massachusetts, the Community Resources for The Disabled in California, the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation in
Connecticut, the Primavera Foundation for the homeless in Arizona, and Straight Inc., a substance abuse program in Texas.

Over the past 10 years, Newman's Own has supported thousands of charities. Some first time recipients for 1991 are: the DOROT program for the homebound elderly in New York; the Children's Hospital of Colubus, Ohio; the National Theatre of The Deaf, and Northern Lights Altrnatives--a program for children with AIDS.

Newman's Own produces a line of all-natural food products: salad dressings, spaghetti sauces, salsas, popcorn and lemonade. Since Newman's Own was founded
in 1982, Paul Newman has donated over $40 million to a wide variety of charities, including The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, for children with cancer and other serious blood-related illnesses, founded by Newman in 1988.

I'm going to send him a letter, not that it will do any good because it will just be some ass kissing executive reading his mail and responding to me. I am curious to know if he is aware about all the BS that staight did and if so does he regret giving them money.

fka you send me the iron ons and I'll be sure to iron that on a T for ya. If that doesn't work I'll bust out the fabric glue (works sometimes for GS patches)

Back when the beach was habitable, I bought a bottle of No-Ad suntan lotion. Wasn't til I was coated with the stuff that I noticed this:

Quote
NO-ADdiction:  A portion of all NO-AD sales is contributed to the NO-ADiction campaign, a non-profit drug and alcohol prevention and awareness program in schools nationwide.

I'm guessing this is like D.A.R.E.

Anyway - you never really know what your supporting when you buy something.

Personally, I like Banana Boat better
