BTW, this is not a "theraputic site". It is a bunch of people who share a common experience talking about stuff. If you need therapy seek it elsewhere.

GregFL,

You are correct.  No kidding. And here's some more truth for all of us here at kookooland:

I spend alot of time being upset over the fact that alot of people come here and give advice.  I have yet to meet any qualified staff, counselors, doctors, attorney.  I have yet to meet ANY qualified journalists, writers, film makers, or any other certified anything out of anybody here except for certifiably done in.

When you say to share in our spirit of community - this is the first step toward honesty on a subjective site like this.  Noone here is trained professionally enuff to offer any real advice, not trained enuff to keep the negative shits in your head from leaking out.  There was never a time that I got any good advice merely from someone who has suffered or become a survivor, mostly they would rather you be like them than figure out the best plan.

Now a room full of neurotics and whackos isn't a very positive thing, and even when you get a doctor in the room, its still a crowd.  You get more than four or five folks together and there's gonna fucking be mayhem.

My point is that I don't worry about a site that has no licensed merit.  It's like that high school job you used to work at back in the day: you want to work there still because it was cool, but it's too small for you now.  I am content to know some of you, even though I don't owe any of you a fucking thing, and although I am frightened of you for keeping vital information from some of us.  There is noone here who is god, I haven't met any attorneys or doctors here, some of you have low college educations or maybe even a B.A .... but even that is just a piece of paper. I don't worry about someone who got the lucky chance to be a monitor because of a cool hand and head, or someone who had an idea to run a survivor's site. And maybe we'll share an adult beverage sometime or whatever, but to share something in brutal confidentiality on any site without any proper staffing and whatnot is nothing to worry about. Just like that old school job that expected you to be on time and work long hours for shitty pay; I don't go back to those old places unless I'm in a humorous state of mind.

they are adding up on the internet, though: do a search for melvin or betty sembler or drug free america foundation -- you can't get to them without seeing our stuff.

sorry, some dumb advice from another lousy survivor on here, but why don't you go to law school or film school or something? so you can quit watching and waiting and do something? I'm not saying that to give you a hard time.

No, he wants it NOW dammit!!!  NOW!!   It's a childish and naive way to look at the world.  Changes like this don't happen overnight.  Not by a long shot.  The country has been so saturated for so many years by the whole 'help' industry that they are doing righteous and good things that it's going to be hard to turn the tide.  Segregationists believed what they were doing was for the good of the country and it was widely accepted by most of the rest of the population.  It took a looooong time for that tide to turn.  These people have scared the shit out of parents for so many decades now and have been bombarded with the Nancy Reagans and George Bushes of the world and the countless list of so-called experts that it's just accepted now that these programs are the answer to all.

It'll happen, it's just not going to happen in the time frame we'd all like to see.

You're misreading me.  I think it's childish and naive to expect that this is going to be resolved by any ONE thing that is done or has been done over the last few years.  I was referring to whoever keeps coming on here and giving people shit for posting the latest info.

Believe me.  I wish those fuckers would get what they truly deserve.  Maybe they will someday.  I know that no one is going to pay for what was done to me personally.  That's over.  I'm more concerned now with trying to affect a change in the way this society deals with so-called troubled teens.  I like the fact that at least there is SOME press that shows our point of view now.  There was virtually none before.

I think we're basically on the same page here.  I'm glad to see some light being shed on this, even if it is on a daytime talk show.  I just don't expect it to be some big revelation the way whoever is attacking Wes etc. seems to.  Small steps.

Its not okay to call someone childish, but no problem telling people to fuck off and telling them their private parts reek, scream at them and tell them to kill themselves.

Nary a peek out of Pietra when this stuff occurs, but when someone mentions the word chidish or naive, Pietra acts as tho someone has just been viciously attacked.

some position you got there Pietra.

and who could this be, speaking out from under a bag?  thanks for sparing us the stupid look on your face. I found the go kill yourself thread, which I was not here for at the time so fuck off, and that isn't even what he was saying. You don't know what you are talking about, and you don't know what I'm talking about, because You Are Illiterate.
