That?s not at all what I am talking about. I even said so in my post. I?m not saying we should all agree. In fact, it was a disagreement between me and Greg FL that taught me quite a bit about Straight. But his argument was out of true compassion for what we had both been through. He wasn?t bashing me nor was he trying to insult me.  However, the anonymous posters, who merely come here to poke fun at why it is we are here, are very damaging to those who are new, IMO. I would never have said half the things I said when I found this forum had I believed somebody was going to trash me for it. That was the only point I was trying to make.

I accept that this is Ginger?s forum, that she will run as she sees fit.

Respectfully,

Shane

Countless hours, turning into, countless days
A doubtful outlook...

Digging from my grave, that's my home actually
Sick and angry for no reason at all
Falling into Manson's thrall...

Charlie's stare will draw you in
A god reborn? A total clown?
Now the truth...a five-six joke?
Or was he the one?
I can't change the exposed truth
God is gone, and never was, never will, never has been

Thoughts prevoke, a disgusting sight
If this is real? Or a chemical life?

Digging from my grave, that's my home actually
Sick and angry for no reason at all
Falling into Manson's thrall...

Charlie's stare will draw you in
A god reborn? A total clown?
Now the truth...a five-six joke?
Or was he the one?
I can't change the exposed truth
God is gone, and never was, never will, never has been

And Shane is entitled to that opinion a well. Pietra. In fact, he has a point, the exteme vileness that goes on in this forum does run people off. However, the openness encourages debate.

There is no easy answer to this type of thing. Moderated forums can be successfull and there are proven examples of ones that work, including the Seed discussion forum, only moderated for personal attacks. Unmoderated forums can work as well as has this forum for many years.

Both have positive and negative aspects. For example, a properly moderated forum tends to be more topical but also usually gets less traffic than it would if it wasn't moderated. In addition, a moderator with an ego issue or god complex will run poeple off and the forum will die. An unmoderated forum usually has much more open discussion and a large pool of participants but can be easily derailed by a troll or disgruntled person that wishes the forum to fail. These type people can cause good  people to avoid the forum and create enough havoc that the intended discussion pretty much dries up.

So that is it. I understand Shane's feelings as I understand your "no Censorship" feelings. I very rarely delete anything here except duplicate posts, an exception being some porno shot that was posted not to long ago. Even in a unmoderated forum, there has to be some rules.

All this long winded explanation aside, I would like to once again ask people to respect each other here, to understand that what you post reflects on how people perceive you as an individual. Vile and crude attack posting serves no one and makes the person doing it look real small in the eyes of the other participants. In addition, this forum is an important outlet for people. I remember how I felt when I first started talking to Wes, Ginger, Kim, Kathy, Ken and a few others on the original site. It meant a lot to me. when new people log on, it can mean a lot to them, unless they run into a bunch of children screaming and cursing at each other. In that case, they are likely to log off and leave.

That is the real shame of this behavior.

And I don't begrudge you one bit for deleting that, Greg. Allow me to offer a bit of an explanation though, just for grins...Putting the porno aspects of it aside, I thought it was a funny picture and very well timed. But I understand you not wanting to have a shot of a penis (or vagina for that matter) on this forum. I just thought it was kinda funny- the penis pump thing, you know..

If anyone's curious as to the pic that I'm referring to, click the link below. You've been warned though...

For the record, i thought it was funny. I also thought your replacement post with the "Holy grail" reference was hysterical.

Pietra, you keep going on and on about this. I agree with much of what you say and find SOME of the trolling here extremely funny and topical. But when it disinegrates into cruel and vile personal attacks, I don't like it. But THAT IS MY OPINION and am just making a request to the people that are doing it to consider the effectit has on everyone. Now, You may love that kind of thing but everyone doesn't,  And yes, more than one person has shared Shane's view with me and many have posted it as well. That is the point I am making, it is impossible to make everyone happy no matter what direction you go in. The policy here is firm, this is an open forum so  You can stop worrying about this forum being "censored" because it isn't going to happen.  You are also right about another thing, Ginger's vision of this website has been excellent and she does have a high IQ.  I am lucky to have her as a friend, and we all have use of this forum at her expense. We should all appreciate and respect that.  I am not sure many people stop to thank her for this forum and for all the hard work and time she has donated, but I would like to do so right now. Thanks Ginger!

Pietra, You're a relative "newcomer" here correct?  Pardon the pun.  You seem to be neck deep in forum drama.  The site predates you by years so relax and let the moderators admin the site as they seem fit.

You said:  ""Thank god for Ginger .....Saves me the huge trouble of having to figure out how to make a forum. Excellent.""  OMG!  What?  Please don't even explain.

""Pietra, you keep going on and on"" is an understatement.  Give it a rest already, P.

I was glad to hear that you would NOT be representing the survivor community on Montel.  In my opinion someone as new to the bbs as you are should maybe take a minute to decompress rather than go apeshit busybody contacting talkshows and questioning forum moderation.

My opinion.
