What music does everyone here listen to?
« on: September 15, 2004, 04:35:00 AM »
I tend to like a mix of rock, alternative, some metal... guess the kind of shit Ive seen makes me want it gritty.

I only made this post because I was stupid to listen to Losing my Religion by REM and read this forum at the same time and it got me thinking

Music can make things too moody.

I like all kinds of music, but find myself drawn to indie rock and old-school punk ( American bands from the MC5 to Black Flag-- the shit they call 'punk' nowadays makes me want to vomit) and psychedelic stuff ( 'shoegazer' bands, mainly Brits from the early 90s).  I also have a sick obsession with Ween, and I even like some-- but not many -- of the "jam bands" such as Gomez and Mofro (from Fl).  I like some metal, some hip-hop, hell, I like just about anything if it's done well.  There's two kinds of music-- good and bad, and I like a little of both.

I love Charlotte Church and sometimes I even listen to Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers. I don't care for FM or AM. I like to play freestyle music though on my axes and stay off the airwaves unless I need NPR news, bu what the helll?....I got lots of shortwave and CB radios too. Even a police scanner. Nothing goood much on radio for music. While all theses people were trashing their vynil for Compact discs I made a clean up on all the outlawed vynil. I got records even going back to the beinning of the 20th century I play on my console. War music.

The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.

What do you think of modern classical composers such as Gustav Holst?

The only decent music scene is old music and underground. I have two ways I answer the question, "What kind of music do you listen to?" when asked:

In the past I?d say, ?"Probably things that you've never heard of,? as I tug down my too-tight vintage argyle sweater and turn my toes in to each other as one of my Converse All Stars kicks at the ground that I?m gazing down upon.

Now a days it?s more like, ?I listen to all music, with the emphasis on "all.? This cop-out never works, so I am hard-pressed to either sound like some aging hipster or pretentious snob: "I listen to a lot of underground stuff: rare & classic rock, big band, old jazz, punk, post punk, glam/goth, psychedelic, alt/indie/emo, synth-pop, noise, dance music and old country??

The bottom line is that today?s mainstream music sucks, and has for a long time. If you want good tunes, you gotta dig for ?em.

You can hear everything at your command. :smokin:

Our friends and allies in the Middle East and Europe will soon be subject to forms of intimidation by an Iraqi government bent on dominating the Middle East and its oil reserves,
