Art Barker The Actor
« on: August 26, 2002, 09:00:00 PM »
Art claimed he was many things before he was the fearless leader of the Seed Cult.

Fighter Pilot

Vaudeville actor

Rehabilitation/treatment specialist

Comic

Alchoholic

High School dropout

After a conversation with someone whom called me today, I had a memory of him claiming several film credits. I did a search and found the following:

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0063311

Mission  Mars. This one rings a bell.

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0062493

Wild rebels

Both movies are from the late sixties. I am thinking about trying to see them.

Anyone remember Art claiming to be an acter?

No, I don't remember Art claiming to be an actor. I do vaguely remember, though, that Mission to Mars was based on a book called "The Mars Transmission" by none other than L.R. Hubbard.

I think that was "mission to Mars" with Gary sinese that you are talking about.
Mission mars was an obscure 60s movie. I think Artie was in it. It would be interesting for sure to dig up a copy.

I've seen Art in a B movie at a drive in theater. He played the part of a liquor store salesman that got robbed and tied up. Don't remember the name of the movie.  :smokin:

Well, I knew KC and his brother lived in lauderdale. In fact, his brother was a bartender at "Big daddy's" lounge in Tamarac.

These guys were in the seed? Tell me it aint so....

OK - does anyone remember Doc Severnson (of the Johnny Carson-Tonight Show band) coming in one night for a PR stint?  Unfortunately, didn't play his brass but got up and spoke about his support for the program.  And what about the donation of Jackie Gleason's Limo which was supposed to be auctioned off for donations but apparently utilized by Art for his 'getarounds'.
