Who did the best at running away!!!

Dishduty

Perhaps it was different at RMA, there are tons of stories of people leaving in the upper school from Cedu RS.

I knew of at least 7 people that left during New Horizons or Summit.
Including myself.

I attended with the Laura in the post above. It is not the Laura you speak of.

Cedu in that era was just on the take. They were about money. They would have gladly arranged a "new Wilderness Summit" and charged the parents an arm and a leg for it.

I split in New Horizons and was pulled after splitting 6 times. (It appears Laura beat my record!)

Upon splitting my 5th time, Cedu dropped me a peer group. In a last attempt to keep me there, Cedu was trying to negotiate with my parents to move me back UP a peer group. (Back to my original) Could you imagine the politcs of that? I still think about it sometimes...I would have taken so much heat in raps if that happened. Not to mention how pathetic it was of the administration. They just wanted more $$$.

You forgot to answer - Did they ever do a 2nd wilderness challenge for a peer group?

Wow - I never knew that. At RMA I doubt people split more than 1 time after day 1 in challenge. Even pre-challenge  if you were above 2 split attempts you were approaching legendary status and paid the price. Sounds like splitting  was commonplace there........ Wierd. I'd imagine chronic splitting would have have generated a bigger underground and for lack of better words 'less safety'.

The reason for it was probably because you guys could see the Los Angeles lights at night and were more tempted. That's why I went to Idaho. After my parents visit to RS they did the math and knew on day 1 that I'd see the lights and be gone by midnight.

I hear you  and already know your point that they are all about the $ but that's a significant difference between RMA and RS during the 89 era.

No they never did a second wilderness challenge. None of the parents wanted to pay more money. CEDU said we were kicked out but we were kind of pulled out. CEDU wanted to "save" our peer b/c we were making the school look like shit. With the boys and there underground. Me kim and crystal. I think leslie and shannon split with 2 boys in discovery. They thought our group had bonded and done so well on our wilderness challenge that they were going to take us again but to Joshua Tree. We all refused. I was done. I can still remember Tim Braces stank ass breath in my face begging me to stay. That man had some serious bad breath

damn homey. you waited a long time to get the fuck out of dodge.

I figured if I could make to challenge I could coast the rest of the way.

voyagers and quest were living fuckng hell every second of every day but once I got to challenge I managed to bite my lip hard enough to tolerate it.

what year did you get there?

how old were you when you got pulled?

what did you do the 1st 2 years after you left?

I always thought if I made it to challenge I could coast the rest of the way too, but boy was I wrong. Challenge was when you could really feel them inside of your head...the need to get the fuck out was never more dire than it was a couple months into challenge...I had to split

I was there from 89-91. I tried to get the hell out of there the entire time I was there. Once I choose juvi, over it but sat there for 2 days only to be returned. I could'nt get kicked out. I was there from the ages of 14-17. The next 15 years I must say where crazy. But the 5 years after CEDU were the most insane. I went on a rampage, I was so pissed off. I was wild!! I was trying to escape my head. I really felt like they fucked my head up. I was niave when i got out of there and really confused. I lived with a big group of CEDU kids afterwards and we were all wacked!

FLOUR 5
« Reply #20 on: September 20, 2007, 11:13:38 PM »
Laura-
I remember you, but you will certainly not remember me......I was there 91-93. Anyways, I was always curious what really happened with your peer group.

That said, I had the lack of luck to end up in Flour 5 for nearly half of my time at cedu. That was your dorm. It was not a good dorm, I honestly thought it was cursed. It was awful.  Weird things happened in there. Plus, in that dorm, there was ALWAYS someone on a full-time. It was a miserable dorm (not that any dorm was anything but miserable).

Thanks for coming on fornits and sharing your experiences.

On the Run
« Reply #21 on: November 12, 2007, 03:30:10 PM »
I was 14 years old when I ran away from Cedu.  I believe my total was 15 times in 6 months, including a 21 day survival program in Idaho.  Each time CEDU coached my parents to ignore my pleas and desperation to come home.  Countless phone calls were ultimately denied in order to teach me the lesson that CEDU was the only answer.  My parents had two different PI companies looking for me...with only one guy successful.  At the end, they would find me, return me, process me and I would be right back out again. At the end, it was a game to me and I think, eventually, they decided they had to teach the others a lesson but not allowing me back and instead sending me to RMA.

I stayed at RMA for about nine months then left when my friend, David, graduated...so desperate I left mid-blizzard and only got to Bonners, if even that.  Had a pretty lengthy punishment, if I remember correctly, only to get in trouble a few months later when I accidently punched another student in the jaw. Nicole, if you ever read this, I am sorry. Only moments before the incident, I had just heard that my sister, who I hadn't seen in a year plus, were not coming to visit me...I hated the situation I was in and I hated everything to do with that wicked place. After I hit Nicole, I was seperated from the rest of the students and kept in a room with only one other person to supervise me while RMA determined what should be done with me. Eventually, I was sent to a former staff members home where I spent a lovely Christmas with him and his family - I felt more a part of something there than I had felt at RMA. DIscussions were intense as people decided my fate...should I be sent to Provo, a six month wilderness school or back to the 21 day program...either way for whatever reason I was to be returned, eventually to RMA.  RMA would not fucking let me or my parents money go! Did another 21 day wilderness program and afterward sent back to RMA.  After that second trip, I suppose I was scared so I pretended to follow the program. Played the game and months later ran away with Danielle..had the adventure of our lives, some good, some bad. After no contact with my family for three weeks, I decided to call home. Finally, after almost two years of torture and tears, they agreed to bring me home. I can't even begin to explain how incredible it felt to be wanted by my family again. Years later, my Dad told me everything RMA/CEDU did to "convince" them to see it the "right and strong" way. Even to the bitter end, RMA tried to get my parents to lie to me and make me believe I was coming home to then snatch me up and return me to that hellhole. Things were tough afterward as I Danielle and I both struggled to regain our real understanding of who were were and our place in the real world. I'm 32 years old and I'm still haunted by the dark memories and moved by friendship that help get me through it all.

Just Me - if you started at Cedu-RS I believe we did know each other.

We are almost the same age and it appears were maybe there around the same time.

I ran away 7 times and was finally pulled in new Horizons but Cedu had my parents in their clutches even right until they released me.

Cedu then went on to tell the students how bad I was doing post Cedu - when in fact I was doing good.

I struggled for a long time with the whole Cedu mentality and thinking until I stumbled on fornits like 6months ago. It has been quite cathartic to say the least.

I had a dream about a staff member of Cedu last night! Last night...
I believe I have come to terms with having gone through it - but it will never ever go away for good!
