Okay, call me too sensitive, but often when I am reading different posts on various sites, people are calling eachother horrible names (that have nothing to do w/the forum topic), putting eachother down, or getting way, way too personal, pornograghically, about a person they don't even know. I mean, am I the only one who doesn't like hearing people called whores and sluts etc? Or
violent things they'd like to do to them? Or racist slurs? Or just name calling for fun?  I just got called a CEDU loving bitch when I'm anti-CEDU by some random person who bitches about correct word definition.  And that is nothing compared to what I'm seeing written by other people.

OK. I had to vent.  But it sucks because it detracts from the forum, whether the purpose is to inform or incite action.  

How do you guys handle it?

Grow up!  If you take any of this name calling personally, you need to stop posting.  It's like going swimming and then complaining because you got wet.

I don't think telling me to grow up is too constructive.  Maybe I am too sensitive but it is really difficult to read some of the threads that are downright abusive (i'm not even talking about any directed to me). I end up wanting to defend the person (which could be you) on their behalf.  I wrestle with being defensive, speaking up against it, or just totally ignoring it.

I've been vile myself a few times on here because there is a particular idiot who made it his buisness to spew racist shit and accusations about me. How do I handle it you ask? Well obviously not in the way that some would prefer, but I'm not going to just sit there and listen to the shit. Idiots like him are the main reason I don't share personal stuff over here.

That's what I mean. It's hard not to respond. I tend toward defensiveness rather than taking the offensive.  I don't think there's anything wrong with four letter words but racial slurs, or calling people c%^&suckers, or starting threads how someone is a whore, it makes my skin crawl. I guess I just gotta get over it.
