In this place of sorrows and fears my soul stands by quivering near. My heart beating so slow as if it were on ice. "The cup is half full" mantra will not sufice. Good can conquer evil you may say. But battling evil sacrafices many good to my dismay, the souls of good children were taken. May they not be forsaken.

To the anonymous poster,

I was amazed by your poem.  Oftentimes, I think that real poetry (not just limericks or common rhymes that pass for poetry) expresses a person's true experience.

The ambivalence in your writing is obvious.  So is the implication of the admitted imperfection of any possible solution for parents who have marred the experience of a childhood, by misdirection of interest, or by frank neglect.

I hope that you write further and that you post here.
