Oppositional Defiance:
To be a thelemite is to take responsibility for your words, thoughts, and actions. To be a thelemite is to pursue your own true will, and allow others to do the same. The word was coined by Aleister Crowley, who also wrote the book of the law, which was a recieved book in where the primary Male, Female, and Child aspects of the universe dictated to him the thelemic principles, but the idea of thelema is as old as history itself. Old Aeon was based on power and authority, life and death. The New Aeon is based on growth and freedom, life and life. Most thelemites are practitioners of High Magick. This differs from pagan magick because it takes years of work and study and work and did I mention work to be a high magician, but the rewards are TREMENDOUS.
