Hi, I haven't been checking the board for quite some time, but it looks as though many new people have found us.  If you knew me back then (kathy barry, at the time) drop me an email or post here if you'd like.  I'm curious about what everyone has been up to.

Talk to you soon

Sad, but funny at the same time. Tell me more about who you are and what you did and possibly I will remember you or something you did or we both saw. I saw alot of shit happen those years.

Hi,

I was in the St Pete program in '83. I remember Rick G., Phil P. and his brother, the entire Tothe family, Jim S. (counselor). I was there right when the Atlanta and Virgina programs broke away from St. Pete. I was there when 107 people were set back in one day. This was a week before I copped out; and only a few months before Dr. Newton himself resigned. Things got more ugly than usual towards the end. Do you remember anyone else?

I'll never forget the day Jim Sailor stopped rap and got 5 people to sit on me. Remember Mark and Mike Mead, Mark sat on my chest and smiled at me while he thumped me in the chest with his knuckle. This was when I had 5 people sitting on me. Remember the hated intake rooms in the morning before group started. I thought I'd never make it out of there. William Rollins, remember that guy. Fred Collins and his brother Mark. Craig Buss, Steve Mead, Mike Bialak. I use to hate singing those songs, every damn day, so repetively. Very annoying crappy songs. To this day if I hear any song from there I go crazy. At Disney they played that zipedeedodaa song and I just hated it. Flashback to hell.

hi jeff.  i remember your name, although of course i never looked over at the guys' side except to PAY ATTENTION to whomever was speaking.  i think i remember the time you got sat on... i still get sick from having seen all that torture.

i get awful flashbacks from those songs, too.  it sucks because my kids like some of those songs.  they're the typical camp songs, so you can't always avoid them.

i was with the group that left for virginia.  i remember lining up, toes touching the heels of the girl in front of me, and feeling someone's toes on my heels.  so claustrophobic!  anyway, i was so relieved to be getting away from the BIG FIG!  (Newton)  he had such a rage problem.  too bad they didn't have prozac back then; he could have used it.  i also remember feeling sorry for all the florida people who were stuck in group with newton running things.  virginia was awful, too, but it was still good to know i wouldn't be seeing him much anymore.

hi kathy.    hope you had a good summer.

I lived with the Wagner family for a while, remember Richard and Debbie. One of our newcomers was Scott Hickok. He managed to keep a vile of weed hidden on his body for a week in the program until he got caught. Straight ruined alot of things for alot of people in the name of strong tough love.

I had to watch Mike Mead in the "Time Out" room on various occasions. He was very tricky to handle. Especially when he would try to get me to do something wrong and then report me. He had been in the program so long that he knew all the tricks. And -- he was way too huge to control. Just another day in the life of Straight.
