Hi Rob Hart,  My son, Shad Farmer took his own life on April 23, 2004 in Boise, ID.  How are you adjusting to life after KIDS?

So sorry to hear that, how old was he and how long had he been out of the program?

Also is there any site that documents all of the program related suicides. I know that it's a very real possibility but it's hard to know how common this is.

I think this post ended up here by accident.  Shad was not in Kids Helping Kids, but he (along with myself, Rob and Kindra, who also posted here) was a survivor of Kids of Bergen County in New Jersey and Kids of Greater Salt Lake in Utah, both masterminded by Virgil Miller Newton.  Shad was my very dear friend, even roommate, for a short time after Kids and although I have lost touch with him and his family over the years, I have much love for them.  Ruth, thank you for your post.  I sent you a private message.  I don't feel worthy to pay tribute to Shad, but I do feel that he deserves it.  Here's to you, dude!
Love,

Ross P
