Don't get mad at me.  I am one of the good guys.  I am one of the only people at RMA with a degree in this field.  I have been reading this sight for a long time but I had to bite my tongue until the time was right.  RMA is hell but I couldn't leave as long as there is one kid left there.  I have a strict code of ethics to follow even though no one else speaks up.
Good news :exclaim:  RMA is closing down.  CEDU has been sold and they are turning it into a Residential Treatment Center for 12 step.  Finally something that will help out kids.  I'm happy those asshole teamleaders will be gone.

Wow. Is all of CEDU being sold? I sure as hell hope so. I was in Running Springs and it was hell. Brandi (middle school) is a mentally ill bitch. I will have hateful memories of her until the day I die. She was so mean to even the real little kids. She should rot in hell.

I'm so glad we have this web site to vent and learn these things!

Don't bet on it. The Seed and Straight billed themselves as 12-step based treatment and so do all of the follow-on programs still in operation under various names. Before they staff the place with ex-CEDU, they will have to put them through the program first.

Hi.  We visited BCA and RMA about two weeks ago and are thinking of sending our son to BCA.  It's so hard to figure out what the truth is...Is RMA closing and what about BCA??

I went to CEDU in 1987.The academics were substandard. The therapy
was cult-like, manipulative, and abusive. THe staff were poorly trained without proper credentials (some BS schools). You were isolated from your family. You get one 15 minute phone call every two weeks and its monitored. YOu get one visit every three months--monitored.
Letters are monitored. If Grandma dies, good luck getting permission to go to the funeral. The staff is very adept at manipulating you to
keep your child there for the full 30 months--they made up stories that I had a drug problem and would go back to my old ways if they
took me out. (I only experimented and easily gave it up without anyone asking 5 months before Cedu and I've never used it since.) My
parents were lied to and manipulated and so was I. THe raps sessions were nothing short of unrelenting verbal abuse. You are not allowed to talk about many topics from the outside to further isolate you into the CEDU mind control. THe propheets are 24 hour brainwash sessions and
many kids fabricated stories because the staff insist that you have these epiphany break throughs and hound you until you say you do.
Maybe its changed... I don't know. But the raps were heavy duty hourslong emotional assault--totally abusive and manipulative. THe kids
who had been there awhile were like Lord of the Rings--trained to spy and bully.

The schools look good with their picturesque locations and brochures... but its a "stepford" school.  

THe kids who leave are unprepared academically and socially because they are so insulated and cult-a-vated its hard to reenter the real world. THe schools may be better but then it was a sham.

If your kid is miserable and crying they will tell you he is manipulating you to keep you cold to his pleas.  But let's face it--no kid on your tour will be honest about the experience because of the abusive barrage that awaits him if he is.

You want your kid to have individual responsibility? Try Outward Bound and loving. I've heard Outward Bound is truly transformative.

I didn't go to CEDU because I was a bad kid. I was an underachiever
with low self esteem. I never lied... I mostly told the truth and took the consequences. Ironically, CEDU pressures you to lie to get
through because you can't progress without having facilitated "break throughs." I can tell you this: If you send your kid there, he won't
come back because you will--I guarantee--be manipulated to keep him there for tens of thousands of dollars.

There have even been situations where a kid doesn't receive medical help because he is supposedly "manipulating."  Moreover, kids may be treated one size fits all-- thisw is disastrous if you have specific learning disabilities, anxiety etc.  

By the way, if your kid was ever a victim of rape or sexual abuse she may be called a whore as part of the "therapy."  

Good Luck! I have two little boys and a much greater appreciation for what parents go through... it's difficult!

PS Be wary of educational consultants--they may get kickbacks or be ex-staff of some of these schools.  THey may also read the brochures but not really know the school as my therapist did who recommended the school to my parents.


PSS: Some states monitor these schools less than others so be aware--these schools generate mucho revenue in Idaho, Utah, Florida...

please, please, please do not send your son to any Cedu program!  i only went to Ascent, and 10 years later, i am still bitter about it and have a VERY tough time dealing with it.  seriously, try Outward Bound, or something else.  to this day, i wish my parents had put me in a military school.  they lie to parents.  i still resent my parents sending me there, but i know they did what they thought was best.  if they had known how it really was, then they would have sent me to a military school.  when they started figuring it out, they took me out of Ascent.  please, there is something better out there for your son.  look at all these posts.  all of us are so angry.  i am not trying to tell you not to do anything at all, but please, for the sake of your son, and if you want a relationship with him when he's older, i think military school would be a much better choice.......

RMA has been shut the fuck down. it is over and done with the kids moved to northwest acadamy.  2 of the most evil people ion the world tony almares and john aron have finally been fired and i hope they rot in hell.  it has taken this long and now we can only hope that the trend will continue.
  do not send you child to ANY place related to CEDU all of those prgrams are abusive. i went to RMA and ascent and have seen the damage thewy can do.  fuck RMA forever.
