There was the big residential building they built while I was at LIFE in '87. I bet somebody made out on that.

:smokin: At least she didn't put you in restraints and shoot you up with 30 milograms of Haladol without cogentin or artane. Ever seen a pretzel syndrome in a real mental ward? She went easy on a lot of people, but unfortunatly she didn't realize that nobody an quit substance abuse until they are sick and tired of it and decide to just stop it. She couldn't change people like she wished and tried so hard just for the sake of being a big MOMMY to a lot of lost children. Just what you needed huh? another mother? lol

A real mental ward would never have taken me because I was not a danger to myself or anyone else.

If my mother treated me the way Helen Peterman did, she would have been thrown in prison.

Now, where did it go? Not to expensive buildings, most of these places are run out of warehouses or office buildings in the bad part of town. Not to peer staff, they barely got a stipend. It wasn't client housing or education, as the parents provided both. It certainly wasn't the high cost of peanut butter and stale bread.

So where did it go? Somebody had to have gotten it!

Does Petermann have one 'N' or two? It seems to have changed a couple of times through the course of this discussion. I've seen it spelled both ways on the web too.

Sara, you're drinking too much coffee. :em: Look closer at the dates. Not LIFE's life, but somehow strangely familiar -- to me, anyway.

Oops - hit the wrong button.  I was long gone by '87 - What are the dates?

I made the original post about the reunion.

I heard about it from my sister.  I was the sibling that didn't get pulled into the program.  Even though my father was looking for an excuse to try and get me in there.

I didn't help the situation, two weeks after my sisters intake, I crashed my car with three buddies in it.  We were all fine and no booze or drugs, just teen craziness.

However, my father ripped the car apart looking for drugs and had my blood tested to look for drugs.

Alas, over two years later, my sister 7 stepped out and left Florida.  I went to school in Tampa which is why I posted about STEP.

Any other questions?

Yeah - How did you find out about the reunion?

I can't believe you escaped it either.  I was actually given a blood test three days after being there - I know it was negative.  It's akin to giving a virgin a pregnancy test.  They still held me for four months.

I can't believe the shit that people (parents) fall for!  With the logic that sibs must be programmed too - then it follows that it's expected to send your 120 pound, 5'4" son to play football because his 180 pound, six footer of a brother is a football player!  Outrageous stupidity.  :flame:

I didn't see your posting about STEP... where was that?  Was it Before or after LIFE?

Wanting it is one thing.  Getting the results is another.

To test or not to test, that is the question - and a much bigger constitutional issue.

My sister got an e-mail from former staff members.  STEP came after LIFE.
