Joel Jones is a retired Army colonel who started the Children's Wish Foundation and New Hope, a center for grieving children.

He has been honored as one of this year's Central Florida Jefferson Award winners, and WESH NewsChannel 2 has chosen him as this week's Hometown Hero.

Jones has a place on the YMCA board, and he helped create Straight Inc., a program to help kids recover from drug abuse. He is also involved with an agency that supports children with cancer called Candlelighters.

Great Thread Topic!!!!!!!

Absolutely time to start emailing these folks and tell them that their tenure with Straight, Inc. Is nothing to brag about and link them to negative information on the program so they feel inclined to face the truth.

Joel Jones: Jones began his volunteer service years ago while in the Army, working with youth and the Boy Scouts of America. After retiring, he became chief organizer of Straight Inc. of Orlando, a nationally recognized program that help youth recover from drug abuse. Four years later, Jones became the executive director of the Children's Wish Foundation. He singlehandedly developed the non-profit agency to touch the lives of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Step 1. We came to understand that the government is powerless over people's private use of drugs and that the War on Drugs was making the government's life unmanageable.

Interesting that Jones started "New Hope" for grieving children, yet he was heavily involved in providing direct grief for several thousand children.

I don't think Bev Hardy is working for the Cincinnati Chamber anymore.  The e-mail address that I had for her there is no longer working.
