power outage
« on: May 10, 2004, 02:28:00 PM »
does anyone remember the power outage of january '98, those were strange days. the outage lasted for two weeks, talk about inhumane living conditions, house sent to bed was as soon as it got dark and eventually everyone had to sleep in the livingroom because of the lack of heat. two weeks without heat, water or warm food. Im pretty sure that i was cod during the first week of the outage, sure igot dealt with for the power outage problem. the thing about the situation that bothered me the most was the fact that they didn't even try to get a generator until the last few days and when they finally did, some elan staff intellectual filled it with the wrong kind of fuel, so it never worked anyway.

Dude, it was horrible! We went for almost 2 weeks with no shower, it was absolutely disgusting! The toilets of the females dorms were clogged and to make it even worse, I had Stefanie Valentine in my dorm. Gross!

Guess there was a good side to it, thou. I completely got over on my shotdown, didn't have to scrub the floor much since they used plastic silverware and delegations didn't last long.  Also it was easier to play games and contract out since they managed to place most the strength on zones...

I remember we had very long relating time and that way we got to know each other better. Of course there were arguments and people having a hard time - as usual- but the females did pull together for the most time. I was still out of control but i took a break from being a "problem person" until they managed to get the house back to normal... then I got back to my "normal" behavior.

I wonder how it must have been with the males who got to sleep in the living room. Guess it was way too cold to sleep in the Caboose. I remember there were several GM's, it must have been crazy down there.

   Peace!

That same thing happened while i was there but it was in 97 and there was like 8 feet of snow out side, and nobody even thought of getting a generator either, or even ordering hot meals a least once a day. If you think about it what they charged for one kid to be there they could have bought two generators and hot meals for all the houses for the week!

Were did or does the tuition money go? Joe's racetrack? Good way to launder money though huh

Man,that's some fucked up shit. That's big time illegal for any place that serves food institutionally. Did anybody split while this was going on? And it was winter time? I think we would have had riots.
