So true!!!!!

I actually had an Alf doll while I was in Straight instead of a teddy bear. Mark Gherling wrote "I love Straight" on the bottom of one of his feet during clothes search while I was on 1st phase.  Michelle Carr used to look at him in the phase and say, "Alf, you sure are an ugly mother fucker."  And then she'd slam him against the wall in the phaser room.

And man was I PISSED when I couldn't peg my pants!  I still am not sure how that affected my "recovery".

Guess, that means I'm a child of the 1970's.  Shit, my kids grew up in the 1980's and 1990's.  Maybe we should start a forum for old-fuckers from straight.

I'd be the first to join it. I hear ya, bro/sis - most of that shit is Greek to me. But I see no reason (other than that these younger people have NO CONCEPT of cool, lol) that we can't co-exist with them on this forum.

That's so true.  I remember some of those things, but that's only because my kids grew up in the late 80s/early 90s.

I remember...
peace signs
earth shoes,
bell bottoms (when they were called bell bottoms, not flares),
Nike swooshes,
Jordache/Sassoon jeans,
Heart's 'Dreamboat Annie',
Judy Blume books,
Space/Pop Rocks,
the Coca Cola song (I'd like to teach the World to Sing),
the movie and TV show M*A*S*H*,
when Stairway to Heaven was song of the year...(anyone, anyone??),
28th Street Drive-In,
the first Friday the 13th,
'feathered' hair,
the day the Skyway fell (I was in an in-school suspension),
Stevie's 'Songs in the Key of Life'..Sir Duke!!

Where powers are assumed which have not been delegated, a nullification of the act is the rightful remedy.

I think I'd remember more about the early 80s if I hadn't been locked up in a brainwashing factory during that time.

Heart's 'Dreamboat Annie'
I remember when the song Magic Man was a hit. Fond memories of the yearly block party with that song playing on the PA. Heart was the 1st band I ever saw live. I was 13.

Quote
when Stairway to Heaven was song of the year...(anyone, anyone??)
That might have been 76. I recall hearing it on an AM radio one night alone in my room and thinking this song was one of the coolest most depressing things I'd ever heard! I didn't know who Led Zeppelin was. But I had seen a picture of them in a photo book called "Pop Music" or something like that...

Quote
Stevie's 'Songs in the Key of Life'..Sir Duke!
Oh yeah, I rememeber that one on the radio all the time, and that other one from that album Songs In The Key Of Life called I Wish.

Quote
M*A*S*H*

Christ, my parents would watch that and so would we - plus All In the Family, Bob Newhart, Mary Tyler Moore, etc...

You did not miss out on anything worthwhile while you were in Straight.  On the contrary, you gained the tools needed to live the life of a happy Straightling.  What are friends, school, jobs, fashion, music, etc., compared to the fun we had getting Straight?  Not only did you receive tools for personal change, but you gained many happy memories from the time you spent in group.  So many adults come up to me and say, "Dr. Fucktard, I really regret that I wasted my teenage years doing normal teenage things.  How I wish that I were lucky enough to have gotten the priveledge to attend Straight for those years!"  I can only tell these unfortunates that obviously their parents didn't love them--if they had, then they would have put them in Straight!  However, they are now lucky enough to be able to attend the new, improved, all-ages Straight v2.0!  It doesn't matter if you're an addict or not, you will improve yourself immeasureably by going through the program and getting Straight.  I would even like to see some of you druggies sign yourselves AND your kids in.  It's not like you druggies are good parents--but you can start on the road to being one by sign ing both your kids and yourselves in Straight.  It would do both generations a world of good.

You are a wacko.  I know what it's like to believe your own bullshit, and you my man are the epitome of such thinking.  I worked in a similar program and I spewed the same propoganda as you do.  I was caught up in my own fuzzy thinking as you are now.  After work, I would go home and get high, or numb myself out with some mindless activity.

Straight is no different than any other bullshit program out their trying to make a buck under the guise of helping teens break their drug habits.  You know most teenagers break their own drug habits when they grow up, or at least moderate them.  When you get through with them, they may not do drugs any more, but that are emotionally so beaten up they don't know how to function normally.  Many substitute the drugs with some other form of self-destructive behavior because they have now spirit left in them.

I don't buy your bullshit, and neither should you.

Spirit? You wanna talk to me about spirit? I've got spirit in fucking spades. And I like drugs, especially amphetamines. I like to do some crystal meth or some good speed and then go out for a night of killing...Ain't nothin' I like more than murdering people. I choose my victims with care. It HAS to be somebody that I feel I wouldn't like if I knew them personally. As long as that's a yes, the rest comes easily. I prefer knives, but a good solid bat or club will do just fine in some situations. Guns are out. There's nothing more satisfying than killing someone with your bare hands. I've been killing people for years, ever since I strangled my oldcomer while I was in Straight. *Sigh* Ah, my first kill...those were the days...
