Finished it yesterday.
Its readable; manages to keep the reader wondering what will happen next. The Character development was OK; it was possible to be interested in what happen to them. However, its not a book I'd recommend to a friend or a book I'd ever be tempted to read again.
I'm glad I got it cheep. No way would it be worth the publisher's price.
As for how it dealt with "the industry" - very favorably.
Any parent with a drug addled kid who happen to get ahold of this book would likely be sent looking for a boot camp and escorts.
The other side of the coin (abuse and gross neglect) was not represented at all; at least not in that light.
The girl the story revolves around was treated brutally; did resort to killing and eating an armadillo; did have to wear her menstrual flow stained clothes; but this was al to the good and she was saved from herself as a result.
Also, the escort the story revolves around was a murderer - but only of bad guys.
