Why don't you believe it? The State of New Hampshire gets it's name from industrial hemp. So do all of the Hempfields, Hempsteads and Hemphome townships, roads and other place names in the country.
This is not some new trend. Industrial hemp has a solid history. Check out this article from the Shaffer Library:
