Two boys have died at Diamond Ranch Academy already. All this facility is doing to prevent further deaths is to silence all information about them.

Diamond Ranch Academy has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Schofields, to the tune of over a million dollars, partly "for punitive damages in an amount sufficient to punish and make an example."

Between their more or less constant torture, abuse, and "accidental" murder of "students" at DRA, I'm surprised they have time to file lawsuits.

Reading this lawsuit, a few things become apparent:

- The justifications for Utah jurisdiction do not always work (their statements made it to Utah, so it's Utah jurisdiction!). Whether or not this kind of thing works entirely depends on the judge, and, given the nature of DRA and the local area, DRA's almost certainly in bed with the judge it's requested.
- DRA's still fucking stupid and supremely arrogant, because actual trial would be a wonderful way to bring out all of the dirty laundry it really doesn't want to have entered as evidence. I can't imagine it wants an actual trial. Probably just a way of intimidating them into settling (again, pure arrogance).
- It doesn't think the defendants have good lawyers. Maybe they don't. Maybe it would be a good time to get them some.
