I feel so badly for anyone who had to go through Elan 7.  Elan 8 was no cakewalk, but we used to make fun of 7 by acting like robots and talking like the Soviets in Rocky IV (sorry!).  It was a truly oppressive house, run by Ms. Stalin herself.

I totally agree with you about the whole "being gamy" bullshit. In Elan 7 we weren't allowed to smile because "that's being gamy", and If we actually stared at someone (99% of the times we got accused, it was some corrupt expetitor trying to get their clipboard done), then we were called sluts... I used to stare at people because I was bored, and they were right, it was a "game", except not a sexual one. There was one person who I was really attracted to, but you see, with him I was a lot more discrete because that's how I am when I like a person. It's kinda cool that we got to meet a few years later, but anyways, I'd never even consider having sex with any of the other boys I used to stare... I'll never ever forget the way I was treated at Elan as a woman, for being humilliated, for being called a slut and all the degrading bullshit they put me through. And I'm sure the other women from 7 feel the same way.
