account #  is 460,  map number is 5. lot number is 42 there are a few parcels of land on number 5 Colbath road ,Poland Springs Me 04274 ,elan's is parcel 70 and it is 32.8 acres .....BUT I don't have a price nor do have an address for Mr. Kinney ,he has a p.o. box

I think he may be a veterinarian.

Not to blow the whole Juan is re-opening Elan theory out of the water...the thought bugs the hells out of me...

But....if a Veterinarian bought the place, I think that would be a fantastic outcome.

Can't know for sure at this time....only time will tell.

If we have properly identified the new owner as a veterinarian...if.

Then I would suggest that the ties you need to examine are between him (Kinney) and Scarborough Downs, not Juan.

And even that said, there maybe no connection. But I am certain Sharon Terry knows all kinds of large animal veterinarians, and the track does have a need for such.

Juan is getting nowhere re-opening Elan with a veterinarian as his proxy buyer, imho.

Again...if.

I am happy to run down every lead you give me to the best of my abilities.

If he has ties to the racetrack, then my feeling that her and Juan being in bed together are true. She wants to be behind the scenes

Nobody is going to license a school, treatment center, or anyhting else involving human health, mental or otherwise, to a veterinarian.

The license is still ineffect. Maybe they're stupid enough to try to do this with Sharonas a board member or something

Remember, Elan wasn't closed down, they went out of business during a bad economy, and were the victims of a horrible internet attack

MFOA Endorses Senator Susan Collins

Maine Friends of Animals focuses its political impetus on state legislative races and seldom endorses national or local candidates.

 However, given the outstanding record of Maine’s Republican U.S. Senator Susan Collins, we have made an exception for this election.

 Her list of bills supporting animal welfare is too long to list, but recently includes legislation in ending the slaughter of U.S. horses for human consumption, calling upon the government of Canada to end its commercial seal hunt, increasing funding for animal welfare, ending commercial whaling, increasing animal fighting enforcement, sponsoring downed animal protection, adding a bittering agent to anti-freeze to prevent pet and small animal poisoning, cosponsoring the pet safety act against Class B dealers of dogs and cats sold for research, and improving post-Katrina FEMA response to animals caught in a natural disaster.

 Not only has our Maine Senator supported these and other animal protection bills, she is often a leading sponsor and active advocate. Senator Collins has repeatedly received an A on The Humane Society of the United States’s annual legislative scorecard.

 Our endorsement means that we very much hope all our members and supporters will do whatever they can to help re-elect Senator Susan Collins so that she can go back to Congress for six more years to continue to do all that she does for animals.

Wayne Elan is not opening back up. Juan is not coming into the USA to set up a program. Just think of the immigration hurdles and then we can move on to the licensing and what not. It is to much to list right now. So the property was bought by a veterinarian. Maybe he wants to use the land for raising dogs, horses, cattle. I would check the zoning laws. We already know it was zoned commercial.
Could very well be thinking of a outdoor outreach program there are several in Maine using animals.
Plus do we know how much of the land is bought or being considered for acquisition.

Juan is a diversion. That property is useless for animals because of the steep grade.

Dr. Stephen Kinney holds degrees from the University of Maine and Tufts University. After 22 years in private practice in southern Maine, he started working with area shelters to reduce intakes and euthanasia's by doing large spay/neuter blitzes. In autumn of 2007, he began work as an independent contractor with the Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston, organizing and outfitting an in-house spay clinic in one month. Using ingenuity and resourcefulness, he was able to acquire the needed equipment for about $11,000 and the clinic is up and running at capacity.

Harness racing survives only because of a $2 million subsidy from casino revenue each year. In 1990 with the industry in full panic, the solution was monies from off-track betting parlors. Then in 2003, the solution was giving the industry money from the state's share of slot machine revenues. Yet the Bangor and Scarborough tracks still often run in the red and audiences continue to decline. And there is no evidence anywhere that slot machines have or will revive harness racing.
