Woodbury Reports, Inc. was founded in November 1989, by Lon Woodbury, MA, IECA, CEP, as an Independent Educational Consulting firm to help parents of teens making poor decisions select a private, parent choice program that would help return the family to normalcy. Lon had worked as the admissions director at the CEDU program, Rocky Mountain Academy, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and decided that he could better help parents find the most appropriate placement for their at-risk children if he was independent.
Woodbury Reports has helped hundreds of families over the years. We understand each child is different and has individual needs, strengths, and interests. Through interviews with parents, communication with professionals who know your child well, and then thoroughly researching viable options, we can help parents make the right choices that will help your child get back on the right path.
The mission of Woodbury Reports Inc. is to empower parents by providing the best quality advice possible in helping parents make good decisions regarding their struggling teen.
Woodbury consultants are experienced professionals who come from a variety of disciplines. This allows our consultants to review each placement from a variety of perspectives, thus providing a wide range of input before recommendations are made. Our team is led by Lon Woodbury, the founder of Woodbury Reports, which is the leading newsletter for the nation’s network of Parent Choice Schools and Programs, and Dr. Larry Stednitz, Ph.D., who has well over 40 years as a program administrator and educational consultant. The other members of the team are: Loi Eberle, a masters level educator with 10 years experience as a consultant, Linda Zimmerman who is a nationally recognized specialist in attachment disorders and adoption issues, and Steve Migden, Ph.D., a licensed and board certified psychologist who is an expert in both learning and emotional/behavioral problems. Dr. Stednitz serves as the team coordinator.

Who Is Loi Eberle?

I became inspired to specialize in Educational Consulting when editing and producing the Woodbury Reports monthly newsletter while under the mentorship of Lon Woodbury. Over the last ten years as an Educational Consultant, I have interacted closely with schools, programs and professionals, watching young people's lives improve and their families gain hope. I have also seen how families can improve their communication and grow closer through this educational and therapeutic process. While working with families from the start of placement process through program completion, I enjoy witnessing the successful outcomes.
Previously, I taught in elementary and secondary schools, as well as in universities and therapeutic/emotional growth residential programs. I also co-founded and directed a private elementary/middle school for ten years. These experiences have helped me learn about a variety of learning styles and appropriate educational techniques. As an educator, I drew upon my experiences as a performance and visual artist, a student advisor and a mother. I have personally learned the benefit of the expressive arts, journaling and wilderness activity, and have always used these tools when working with young people. I have a bachelor's degree in Communication from Northwestern University, a master's degree in Secondary Education and Instructional Design from the University of Minnesota, and I have completed two years of full-time study in Educational Psychology at the doctoral level at Indiana University.
After difficult traumas and tragedies occurred in my family and extended family, I learned about the importance of not becoming embittered, seeking instead to gain understanding and compassion. I saw how adolescents can become alienated through hyper-focusing on society's problems. I learned that seeking distraction and altered states are not life promoting practices. My goals, which I developed with encouragement from parents and grandparents, inspired me to pursue advanced education. I became motivated to find ways to regulate my own behavior and emotions using cognitive therapy and ancient self-regulation techniques. As a result, I have also studied yoga and meditation for forty years and taught classes for many of those years, helping to guide people on their personal journeys of self-discovery. Through continuing education in psychology, yoga therapy and mindfulness meditation, I stay current with new information about the many tools and techniques for attentional problems, behavior problems, and mood disorders. I am concerned about the challenges experienced by our young people today. When working with my client families, I do all that I can to help them identify appropriate resources for their children as well as for the whole family.
