I was gonna say could it just be  coincidence .....though we all know that would be me trying to make a snarky comment .

It seems that the ones who controlled the asylum (prison ,elan)  the pols (Bill Diamonds )  can also quash the truth about abuse . Bill had to have known how  elan covered its ass by controlling the "floor show "

Hell there are many former residents that would testify just how elan went about hiding what actually went on in that "portal to Hell" . The fact that elan hid and did so very effecientaly ,they were never found to be abusing children ,yet every freaking resident pro or con towards elan will tell you that the directors Kruglik and Gottlieb ( the ones alive today and that were working there prior to its  closing  ) directed the residents to extreme cases of abuse against other residents . Hell the boxing ring and the cowboy kick assess ,the general meetings  and Gottliebs and Krugliks beloved electric sauce are just memories now though they were severe sadistic ,violent and brutal abuses directed against children by these men that helped Joe Ricci run elan  and they were very real then..

Bill Diamond got money from elan ,that was made by the tears and blood of chronically abused children by the men that helped Ricci run that hell hole. You could say that bill Diamond was an employee of elan also .

He had to have known what was going on in that horrorshow that billed itself as a treatment center .  

The bigger question Ursus is why did Elan ,Bill Diamond and all the henchmen feel the need to controll what the inspectors saw every time there was a state inspection ? I would offer that these men and elan knew what they were doing was wrong , downright criminal ,infact serial criminal sadistic child abuse . If the truth was ever exposed/ discovered  these men that helped run elan might face the jeparody of prison time  for child abuse crimes . Diamond their pol in their pocket so to speak , he keeps the truth from reaching the ears of the people . And then when he is elected Senator he is in their pocket completely .

And all this is over the amount of money that elan made for Joe Ricci and the creteinous bastards that helped him run that sadistic serial child abuse mind rape mill . The tax money that elan generated.... Whoowee ...if Diamond played his cards right and elan never got exposed due to his assistance in all matters related to investigating elan , it was a win for the state and a win for Joe Ricci who took his blood and tear stained money and bought himself a race track called Scaroughbrough Downs, in 1979.

why invest back in to elan ? Buy a racetrack instead . Look it was never about saving the unsavable ,it was always about the money that was being made and could be made by getting children to abuse other children . Besides the sick sociopaths that ran elan not only got paid ,they also enjoyed it . It was a truly sick form of entertainment for men who could not get real jobs working  as  gas station attendants , because of their backgrounds.

Two things we know absolute power corrupts absolutely and  and they had absolute power over all things related to elan ,from the goings on on the inside to what was seen from the outside ,looking in.( just like how Bill Diamond  controlls what is investigated about abuse in super max prisons ,pertaining to those articles.)

When you are making money illegally , I firmly believe making money abusing children is illegal  ( I might be wrong ,though I do believe child abuse especially serial sadistic child abuse is criminal )  and  you have a politician like Senator Bill Diamond in your pocket and you can be told ahead of time when there is going to be an unannounced state inspection ,and you are able to prepare for what you want the state inspectors to see.

Then shoot you got a unmolested continuing criminal enterprise going on that if you are Joe Ricci and Bill Diamond ,you are never going to be investigated or shutdown , Hell you are going to get rich and the State of Maine is going to profitt and  be able to maintain their roads and build more roads from the taxes that elan generated  . The best part of this little tale is that no one is going to be the wiser and those men are going to get rich .

And you know Ursus that is what happened .  Thats why I believe that these men certainly did run a continuing criminal enterprise for over 35 years that made money thru fraudeluent means , thru the explotation and sadistic criminal abuse of children .May Bill Diamond and all his cronies find Joe Ricci and have a long dance in hell.

Kruglik and Gottlieb still need assistance in finding justice for what they had children do to each other ,these men all knew it was wrong or why would they have tried to hide it .

As Kenny Zaretzky a former assistant director (who is now dead) said in the Dec issue of 2001 Details magazine "that we lied thru  our teeth" in  regards to covering up the abuses that went on in that hell hole .

No Ursus it doesn't surprise me that Bill Diamond is going to ignore a former residents allegations of abuse in a super max prison . He has al ready been schooled in the proper way to hide abuse by his tenure as an employee for elan .

I bet Bill doesn't know how much blood he has got on his hands . Elan should have been closed 40 years ago ,and these men knew it or  why did they have to hide the truth as to what really went on in that sadistic , brutal ,violent ,soul-eating hellhole .

I tend to think that not so little of that goes around when it comes to some of Maine's politicians... It seems to be a common theme.

I had earlier wanted to point out the coincidence, or not, of Deane Brown and Bill Diamond being interviewed in the same article re. issues of egregious human rights abuses at Maine's Supermax, and their shared prior history in the hallowed halls of the soul-crushing Elan. With still the same dichotomy of who is in control and who is being controlled.

I'm not sure that reporter Lance Tapley twigged on just how ironic that was (Deane was perhaps a bit unspecific about the identity of that "boot camp for drug abusers" in his youth). Perhaps it was not ironic, but something a whole lot worse. I wouldn't be surprised if Diamond hedged and hawed and feigned disinterest in Supermax abuse, at least in part, because he'd have preferred that old relationship to be left more than a lil obscure.

There is also the possibility that he felt that the abuse was justified in the perverse manner that was prevalent in the day.
