Inculcated:

Thanks for the link to the TEXT of the bill.

It looks like both bills 3126 and 1667 are identical to each other and the same as H.R. 911

This will make it easy to dissect and make recommendations because we have alreayd been down this road before.

H.R 3126

S. 1667

And to NOSOB: Amendments can be made to the bill. Just present your thoughtful suggestions and provide a position statement about it. I am sure most orgs. against torturing teens will be doing this again. I plan to start dissecting it today.

HEAL already has a position statement written out regarding HR 911 so this might be a place to start looking to see if you agree with the changes mentioned there:  http://www.heal-online.org/HR911problems.pdf

My opinion is that as much as I want to see what you are describing a reality, I do not think we have the data or means to convey this to the public or leadership in this country.

It might be more fruitful to examine aspects necessary to thought reform (such as seclusion from the outside world, no complaint protocol, etc.) and make changes in the bill regarding them.

It would take a lot of thought and creativity to stop brainwashing. If a program isn't following best treatment practices, then they are more able to brainwash kids. If we can prohibit these "out of touch" programs from doling out an outdated model of treatment, you can (somewhat) control the ability for a program to brainwash.

I don't think there is a silver bullet for this though.

I do think that an onslaught of reminders from survivors to the Surgeon General/HHS might be a positive. But expect to get the runaround.

Quote from: "N.O.S.O.B."
anybody think it'd be worth starting a petition to ask that an amendment to the bill be added that would specifically address and define and outlaw the use of thought reform as therapy.

If nothing else see that the definition of mental abuse includes the aspects and underlying principles of thought reform, and ask that the surgeon general/HHS office be required to disclose the potential for damage and the fact that these are un-studied methods.

I just wonder if anybody wants to work on this with me.

Sure, I might be into helping you with that at some point.

Private sector efforts and actions against the abusive/fraudulent TTI entities, perpetrators and participants otherwise responsible for such crimes against humanity... will be the only effective means by which to achieve the end of what we know today as the abusive TTI. The government's left hand knows not what its right hand is doing, much less taking on such a complicated and proprietary task. Besides, there are so many corrupt TTI moguls and politicians in the mix that the Fed government would have to spend Trillions of dollars to impeach itself.  :roflmao:

If the survivors' participation in these actions/efforts are to be part of the answer, then they will need to find a HUGE amount of $$$, like at least $1Million for starters, and set up an agency of their own, dedicated solely for that purpose. They must stick with facts and be willing to "mix it up" with billionaire businessmen who like to play "Who can I sue today?"

No need for anyone to be on the fence. HR 3126 = BAD NEWS and will NEVER work.
