Well, Coz, I'll agree with you that the outrageous slander is not helpful. I don't see it as a problem to be solved, though. It's just... dumb, that's all.
But there's more to Elan than just whatever happened years ago to any individual. Elan is not unique. It's just one of hundreds of Synanon based juvenile thought reform institutions. And it's not in the past, they're still working a swift trade in breaking young spirits and dividing families.
A lot of Program parents, even years later, still don't get it. Even if you put the evidence right in front of them showing what was done to their children, they'll say "Well, the little asshole needed a good brainwashing."
If you believe that about yourself, I'm sorry to hear it. Go on your way and enjoy your new life and personality. I'm worried about the next generation of kids. I don't want to see them crushed.

Froderik, my take on Elan is that it's a place that has done a lot of horrible shit and a lot of good shit. People have claimed it saved their lives and who am I to argue. I think Elan was good for me, just like all my other experiences were good for me because I like the person who I have become. Now, that's not a judgement on whether I think Elan is right or wrong. I don't really think about it. I kind of stand in the middle. I disagree with many things about Elan, but that was in my past. I just don't have the desire to go on a shutdown Elan crusade.
