Academic Adviser Q & A
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:47:11 AM »
Hello, everyone!  I have seen quite a few misconceptions here about Academic Advisers.  I started this string so that you may ask me questions about my profession and receive the proper answers.  Ask away!

?   What methods do you use to determine the needs of the child?
?   What is the cost of your services and what does it cover?
?   Do you follow up on cases after placement?  If so, by what methods do you do so?
?   What factors do you consider when recommending particular *therapeutic* wilderness programs TBS or RTCs ?

We don't determine the needs of the child.  The parents do.  If they require additional assistance we are happy to make a diagnosis over the phone or through a questionaire.

What is the cost of your services and what does it cover?

Our rates are very competitive and our fees cover all services required by the parents.  We can do escorting for an additional sum.

Do you follow up on cases after placement? If so, by what methods do you do so?

We send out surveys to the parents who engaged our services.  All positive results are published.

What factors do you consider when recommending particular *therapeutic* wilderness programs TBS or RTCs ?

We consider the placement reward we receive from the programs and the parents' wishes and economic viability.

Of course, we guarantee the success of every child and offer a partial money back guarantee or re-placement.

Lol, well that’s somewhat more illuminating than “Not every question needs answering”

Offering a re-placement is one thing, but a deal sans hyphen would really give you an edge over your competitors. In the all too common event that the child is lost or damaged while in placement, can we expect to be provided with a replacement?

George Posner is a former Hyde School parent turned Ed Con. He managed to turn the experience of having one or both of his kids attend Hyde ... into a lucrative sideline to his teaching in curriculum studies. :D

Ed Cons always seem to assiduously avoid this question!

I'm assuming that you are being facetious here, Inculcated.  Of course we cannot offer direct-replacement children, but we do transform your child into the Child of Your Dreams©.  Guaranteed (or you get a partial refund).

In other words, you won't get a replacement child, but you might get part of your existing one.

Hello, Pile of Dead Kids!  I see in your signature area that you are promoting academic advisers.  That's wonderful!  Would it be possible for you to replace "Call your educational consultant" with "Call Edward Kahn at 1-800-SUCCESS"?

I'd gladly pay a per-call premium for the exposure.  This form of networking can be very lucrative.  Let me know!
