Cigarette smoking by kids in the seed condoned

Remember the rule "Smoking only on the hour or when the Rap leader smokes" How did they justify to parents that the children needed cigarettes to get off drugs.

I was thinking about this the other day. The kids that were in the seed when I was there were presumably provided cigarettes by their parents.

That was the rule as I remember it. Kids could smoke if their parents let them. But those were the times. In those days, most stores in S. Fl would sell smokes to a 14yo w/o question. Tobacco was not thought of as a drug. It was something that right thinking, staight laced adults did.

Kids could smoke, no matter what their age, even if their parents were strongly against it.

ironically art himself had a constantly loosing struggle with cigerettes and  so announced quitting ..took up a pipe ..couldnt hack..went back to cigs..
 in fact one of the most despised images i still have of that time is art in front of open meeting ..laying down his bullshit to the parental new marks that were attending.. a smug lil egotistical asshole wearing a yachtsman cap with  pipestem gripped between his teeth..
  all the "talk the talk or else" captees backing up his schtick for the art will save your kids/the world show... sometimes  i thought the whole thing existed so art could hear "we love you ,art" in mass ..jeeez how i hated all that..forced to be someone other than myself for mths in order to hopefully, someday ,make it out the other end and go about my life.. was a bizarre circumstance to say the least
