Q. Will a parasitic fungus cure my GFG’s ODD?
A.   No, it is not yet likely that the parasite known as the zombie fungus infecting carpenter ants in some higher elevation regions of Brazil can be harnessed to control troubled teens. Adolescent humans don’t have powerful mandibles like ants do and therefore would not be useful in the part of the process where the infected latches on to a leaf and dies. Leaving the body securely affixed after death is an important part of the zombie fungus cycle, as it is then that spores are released from the head of the dead ant which allows the infection to spread.

While the first zombie ant fungus was identified in 1865, as of now there have not been any practical applications of this discovery for troubled teen control. Recently four new species of the fungus which control ants have been discovered and scientists close to the research believe they will eventually find hundreds of species of the mind-controlling fungi.
