The problem with letting Carey have this bully pulpit as well as posting priveleges on ISAC is that her perspective is so narrow-minded [singularly vindictive, with the mental health of her children taking second place to the personal affront she envisions from this educational consulting (sic) firm]. She would "clutter" the ISAC board like she does this one, preferring to rant against her own PURE demons.
I think there are 2 strong fronts to attack WWASPS and its havoc wreacked on American kids:
1) legislate abuse, because you are spitting in the wind to convince a lot of these *parents* that the WWASPS psychological tactics are terribly damaging to anyone, let alone an emerging teen personality.
2) stories, anecdotes, rebuttals from personal experience...stuff that investigating parents might need to make an informed decision about their kids' welfare, stuff that is not to be found in WWASPS glossy brochures, the tearful testimonies of clueless [or sadistic] parents, or in the Dead-Or-In-Jail threats of WWASPS marketing.
Where are potential parent/clients going to find out about what really goes on in these facilities? On one hand, you have a really slick, strong marketing program from WWASPS that most people take at face value (never experiencing this sort of devious and wholesale lying, and not coming at this with the cynicism that we more-experienced folks have). On the other hand, you have....US???
When I first became involved with WWASPS when my grandaughter was incarcerated in November 2002, I looked to the Internet. I found just the beginnings of truthful information about what went on. As these anecdotal forums, etc. grew, WWASPS squashed them, and there are few remaining. Fornits was a strong source of information, and the back-and-forth of "real" people and "anons" DID give both sides...and let me decide which to believe. Then Carey Bock somehow got this hair up her ass and dominated this information source with clap-trap about a company which directed parents to various "child help" facilities that she either a) felt was a bad idea, or b) felt that ...God, I don't know what her problem is with PURE. [can't wait to hear Ms. Bock's slobbering spitting answer to that statement!]
Anyway, to parents seriously considering placing their child outside the home (bad idea, but....), I want them to know the reality of a WWASPS facility. Due to the single influence of Ms. Bock, this valuable forum has degenerated into a public circus of one person's imploding universe needing to cry out with rage at SOMETHING. Only 2000+ kids are currently in WWASPS (maybe much less, what with all the bad press). Only 200 people on the planet even know what the heck PURE is. Only 2 people in the universe think this issue deserves attention.
There are a whole lot of teenagers currently "doing time" in WWASPS facilities. There are a whole lot of teenagers doomed to the same fate unless the public discovers what WWASPS really offers. There are a whole lot of former teenagers who have given a huge chunk of their past to Straight, The Seed, etc., and they deserve vindication. It is a crime against humanity to divert this effort because one single woman is sicksicksick. Please don't sacrifice the small window of truth against the obscene Goliath of money, greed, sadism, and torture that is WWASPS. Move past Carey Bock and PURE, and recognize the real evil and fight it with all your might.

Grandma, how many kids do you think are in the programs that PURE refers to? We really don't know, do we? She won't even list the schools she refers to. Why? Oh yeah, you don't really care if kids are being abused in programs, you are only interested in your own personal revenge against WWASP.
What you all, that is you PUREst, fail to understand and continue to deny is the fact that I am not the problem with your fight against WWASP. Your problem with the fight against WWASP is your association with PURE. The problem is that you can not admit that PURE is in the business of hurting kids. You want to hitch your wagon up with someone who is doing exactly what you accuse WWASP of doing.
Sometimes I really have to wonder what Sue has on all of you parents who support her. It must be that she has sucked yall all into her legal battle and you can't get out without it costing you just as it is costing her. I guess that is why you all refer to me as a snitch. It must be because you all have done something wrong and you are all afraid of being sued by WWASP. What that is, I don't know. I would think that as long as you have not been doing something illegal, then what on earth could she or WWASP be holding over your head?
Who knows. Whatever, it sure seems that what ever I say or do, your panties always seem to be in a wad.
By the way, my boys are doing fine. Not that you care, but I just thought I would let you know. My boys have been able to walk away from their experience with a better sense of themselves and others than I ever thought they would.

Carey, I think all BM facilities are harmful. I target WWASPS (not PURE) because I feel it is has the largest exposure and sort-of "legitimacy" due to clever marketing, actually making it the best target. A facility like Skyline Journey going down doesn't really have the clout (what, with 10 kids they had to tranfer out when they closed?) to move large numbers of folks to reconsider their options with problem kids. To make major change in the thinking of parents, "Send your kids off and we promise to return compliant robots you'll love", I think one needs to go after the Big Guys. Obviously it has been way more effective to target cigarette manufacturers (lots of connection with lots of folks, here) as opposed to jumping on the bandwagon against Skoal and Copenhagen, which are equally harmful. I'm picking my battles, and I feel strongly that fighting with one-of-many educational consultants who make some money off really stupid parents is just diluting the energy needed to condemn this whole industry.
As to your comment (and the deflection spoken about earlier, which always seems to zing off wildly from the posting), I can't imagine why you would say:

It is obvious to anybody on this forum that I really have a gripe with WWASPS, and that I want that company to die. How can you equate that with an "association" and a same-thinking perspective as a rather lame educational consulting firm? Like, I really don't give a damn about some stranger's lawsuit, I have no intention of "hitching my wagon" to the aforementioned lame educational consulting firm, and I am seriously not part of a group working under the direction of the aforementioned lame educational consulting firm.
I hope to expose abuse in behavioral modification facilities, and WWASPS is the easiest to document, among the worst, and the ball is already rolling in that direction. Tactically, hit the main enemy in its most vulnerable spot, the one already weak from public exposure, and don't waste ammo on the little snipers doing minor damage on the sidelines.

Sometimes the truth hurts! If you are out to protect kids then you would be able to admit to the fact that PURE is part of the problem. You can't. You know why you can't...well it is because for some reason you and your associates seem to think she holds the key to bringing down WWASP. She doesn't. I don't agree with you on what is important. No big deal. You need to go on about your business exposing who you wish to expose and I will go about mine exposing who I feel needs to be exposed. If you have a huge beef with WWASP and you feel they have done you wrong then do what you will to make them accountable. Grandma, why do you care if I target PURE? I don't care if you target WWASP. It does not threaten me in any way. Why is it that my targeting PURE threatens you? PURE might not be the biggest in the industry and they might not be important to you but they are to me. Why do you feel that I don't have a right to tell how PURE has exploited me and my family? Why do you think that it is wrong for me to share the truth about my families experience? Why is it such a thorn in your side? Be honest with yourself even if it hurts.

Oh yeah and Grandma, you forgot to add the one death...but then that is no big deal to you...that is just small potatoes in your scope of what is important. Afterall, I am sure "ed con artist" like Sue can just send them to one of her other programs. And if it is small and just one more child dies...then once again... it is just one more small potatoe.
