DHS, Mount Bachelor Academy Settle Case

--- Quote from: "Whooter" ---(Re-posted) Some feedback from a journalist who had a child:

"It is gratifying to see the settlement in which DHS admits what we parents knew all along - the state caused a completely unecessary disruption of a unique and successful school community by acting precipitiously and without gathering all of the facts first," Povich told NewsChannel 21.

"The state went off half-cocked," Povich added. "I hope especially that this settlement will mean that no other school will be subjected in the future to similar callous treatment by DHS."
--- End quote ---
Just to clarify in case it isn't already obvious, this is actually part of the above article, perhaps even solicited opinion, and not unsolicited feedback to the news after it came out (as Whooter seemed to imply in another thread).
--- End quote ---

I am not following you, Ursus.  You posted the article yourself further up and you must have read the comments by the journalist who had a child in the program.  It is in the body of the news report (not in the comments section).  As far as whether or not they solicited (or approached) all these people (DHS of Oregon, Aspen President etc.) is not mentioned specifically in the body of the article (or any foot notes).  I imagine they were all approached for their statements as is typical in all reporting how else would they have gotten their comments.  The reporter is given the assignment and he/she goes out and finds people to comment.

If you look after the quote it says.. "Povich told NewsChannel 21".  This indicates to me that the reporter spoke to Povich or Channel 21 directly.  The responses from DHS and Aspen were probably acquired the same way.

Which part of the below quote do you have difficulty following?

Nobody spoke about any "comments" yet, until you just brought them up. Are you trying to confuse folks again?

I brought up the word "Comments", I dont think anyone was confused, Ursus.  If you click thru to the link I provided, the comments by the Journalist could be found in the body of the news article.  The same article that had comments from DHS and Aspen.

I think we can both agree that everything posted was part of the original article.  I feel we have been clear to the readers on this.  Your original posting seems clear also, I wouldnt worry too much.

Whooter:
More comments by Povich:

"Elaine Povich, a Washington, D.C., freelance journalist, who credits MBA with "giving her son the tools he needed to study, graduate and go on with his education."

"Before MBA, he was floundering," she said. "He benefited immensely from the program, and developed important relationships with the staff there."

What I like to do is get back to the latest information at hand.  A lot of things were said by DHS that they regret.  Here is the latest article on MBA and a statement:

Link

"DHS has agreed  to withdraw or modify all of its actions against MBA"
