Just some observations.....

I was looking over http://www.redcliffascent.com/staff.html and noticed a few things. First of all, only two people listed don't say what college they went to. One is the CLINICAL DIRECTOR, the "druggy" looking guy with long hair and a beard. I would LOVE to know where he got his degree from. And to top it off, his name is listed as: Dr. Dan Sanderson Ph.d. So he's both a Dr. AND a Ph.D.! This is the best part of his description: "His knowledge gained from many years of experiential therapy in the wilderness has certainly contributed to the therapeutic model adopted by the RedCliff Clinical staff and has facilitated the reputation that RedCliff maintains for sound clinical work." Ok, but since when did psychologists just get to make up their own therapy without doing any sort of research on it and claim that this contributes to them gaining a reputation for "sound clinical work"? This is completely ridiculous.

OK last but not least, the link on their homepage to "Research Demonstrates Success of Wilderness Treatment" --- this is actually a link to an undergraduate psychology journal. Meaning, this is some paper that an undergraduate psychology major wrote. Is that the best they could find. Talk about "sound clinical work." [ This Message was edited by: jane on 2005-01-21 15:05 ]

Thanks, I was just looking over this. I guess if they are trying to do some research, that is better (why didn't they link to that instead of the undergraduate journal??). But I would like to know more about this too.

Check this out.  Post number 6 is from one of the kids on the show.  So now these kids faces and names are out there for everyone in the world, literally, to ridicule and humiliate.  Wonderful!!  How nice that they'll have this to follow them around as they try and make their way through life.

but...a google search turns up this forum on page 2.

OK I found at least one very serious problem with the research shown here: http://www.redcliffascent.com/uofiresults.html

It doesn't prove that the treatment was not helpful and effective, but it proves that these people are a bunch of liars. I just read the published article by Dr. Keith Russell, and it clearly states that the resulting score was a 48 (on both tests), not a 42 as indicated on their website. If you'll notice, 48 falls under the "dysfunctional" level as opposed to "normal recovery."  Maybe I should email them about this oversight of theirs??

Meet our People

Steve Nadauld - Admissions Director 1-800-898-1244

Steve has been with our organization for nine years. After graduating from BYU, he began his career working with troubled teenagers.

I'd like to know what the degree is in.

Because they state it for Andrea Burgess - Executive Diretor bio...

Andrea graduated from BYU with a B.S in Family Science and later pursued certification for addiction counseling.

Cheryl Bennett - Assistant Admissions Director 1-800-898-1244

Cheryl has been with RedCliff for six years. She brings the unique perspective and experience of having her younger brother attend the program several years ago.

Someone whose only qualification is having a sibling there is Asst. ADMISSIONS DIRECTOR??

Keith Russell is an Associate Professor of Resource Recreation and Tourism.  Good to see the research is being done by at professional.

I notified the State of Utah licensing office of the misinformation. I also found a few more huge mistakes on their website. They emailed me back saying they would look into the claims, and if substantiated, appropriated action would be taken. I don't know if that is just the standard response or what. We'll see I guess....
