Timberline Knolls near Chicago
« on: November 10, 2010, 05:35:04 PM »
That Disney girl seems to be a resident there. They take girls as young as 12. They can bring a laptop and maintain contact with their family. What else is there so observe about this facility?

I saw some of the standard warnings at their admission page

From their website:

    Location

Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center is located in Lemont, Illinois, an historic Chicago suburb located in DuPage County (nearby areas include Bolingbrook, Naperville, and Downer's Grove).

The campus is located less than 30 minutes from two major airports, Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Chicago Midway (MDW), which provide daily direct flights to hundreds of U.S. and international cities.

Given Timberline Knolls' proximity to Chicago, residents are able to enjoy off campus experiential activities that enhance their treatment.[/list]

Lemant - the position on Google maps. A friendly poster on TMZ.com posted the information that the Disney girl is apparently there to fight her urge to fight people.

A few things about this place undercut the usual evil.

    1. Lack of isolation, in both communication and location. You don't want to try pulling Aspen Ranch/MBA shit in the Chicago suburbs.

    2. Programs can't get away with doing the things to over-18s that they do to younger girls, nor can they do those things in the same facility.

    3. They just took a Disney star who by definition is in a critical position to pwn the fuck out of them in case shit goes wrong.

Mmm. A coupla things 'bout Timberline Knolls that y'all might not be aware of:

    • The place used to be owned and run by Brown Schools. Back then it was called Rock Creek Center.
    • They still have one of those Brown / CEDU therapists practicing there, who also happens to currently be on the Brown schools/CEDU Family Services/Ascent Program Advisory Board, if I'm not mistaken.
    • A few years ago, the feds linked them to a large-scale health care scam, involving bribery and a massive patient-brokering scheme, quite possibly "one of the most notorious health care scams in recent local history."
    • They apparently used to post greatly inflated success claims on their website, deemed "misleading" by some medical experts, and which were removed after questions were raised by a local newspaper. According to the paper, "Timberline Knolls eventually provided figures showing that it shares the significant failure rate typical of these types of facilities."
    • It costs a few bucks shy of $1000 per day to seek treatment there.
