The battle against masturbation among minors
« on: May 13, 2010, 04:39:34 AM »
About 50 years research found out that masturbation by minors was a natural thing, which is no concern if it is done in private.

But before 1944 it was not fun to be a minor with a natural need.

I found this article on a webpage from a museum which deals with the history of residential treatment and placement of minors.

It shows a photo of a leather glove the teenagers had to wear during the night. The gloves were fixed to the bed frame which made it impossible for the child to use the hands. This glove was used between 1922 and 1944.

The article also tell a story about a boy who were forced to wear these gloves every night for two years and just to add to it one of the staffers then saw to that the boy got orgasm while the boy was tied down. The article doesn't explain why the employee did that. The actions of the employee was odd if masturbation was considered harmful.

It has 50 year since we in Denmark came to the conclusion that masturbation is not harmful. How is the situation in other countries?

We are reworking the Danish section right now based on information that some group homes in Denmark are using a WWASP-light level system based on US-systems. See the new article on Shuberts minde (Without isolation rooms but with work details)

Once finished it will include a historical section and it would not be a pretty sight.

Obsolete treatments like Lobotomy were finally banned as late as 1983 by direct intervention by our parliament against present medical advice. Several of the "victims" was toubled teens almost to the very end.
