Rice Lake group home employee faces sexual assault charges By: Eric Quade

A Rice Lake man who worked at New Beginnings Group Home in late 2009 has been charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault due to alleged relations he had with residents at the facility.

Douglas P. Dyson, 46, has an April 12 preliminary hearing scheduled. Judge Jim Babbitt established a $5,000 cash bond for Dyson's case. Bond conditions including having no contact with New Beginnings Group Home, the alleged victims and no unsupervised contact with juvenile females.

The sexual assault charges stem from allegations that Dyson had inappropriate contact with two 21-year-old female residents of New Beginnings Group Home between August and December of 2009, according to the criminal complaint.

One of the apparent victims told authorities that Dyson had sexual intercourse with her soon after she had gotten out of Luther Hospital and had returned to the group home in Rice Lake.

The other alleged victim reported that the defendant told her not to talk about their sexual activity because he would get into trouble. She also said that the contact was consensual and that Dyson had given her a ring and a necklace.

A single count of second-degree sexual assault carries with it a maximum possible penalty of 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines
