Brenford Place Youth Counselor Accused of Sex Assault of Teen Patient Sat, Apr 17, 2010

A 16-year-old girl accused a counselor of sexually assaulting her at the Delaware treatment facility where she is staying.

Delaware State Police arrested 27-year-old Christopher Denigris Thursday. He was charged with two counts of rape and released on $10,000 bail.
The accuser at Brenford Place, a residential treatment facility for juveniles with mental health disorders where Denigris worked as a youth rehabilitative counselor, said he sexually assaulted her twice last weekend, according to state police.

State Troopers believe that Denigris gave the girl his e-mail address prior to the alleged assaults and that the two communicated over e-mail, police said. His computer was seized by police.

Anyone who believes they have a child who may have had contact with Denigris at the facility should call police at 302-697-2104.

DE Man Arrested For Alleged Sex Assault
Apr 17, 2010

Delaware State Police have arrested a 27 year-old counselor for sexual assault. State Police received information that the man allegedly assaulted a 16 year-old patient at a treatment facility in Smyrna.

Troopers arrested Christopher Denigris on Thursday.

The 16 year-old victim is a resident of Brenford Place residential treatment facility for juveniles with mental health disorders. The victim reported that on two separate occasions last weekend Denigris allegedly sexually assaulted her. Officials say Denigris was working at the facility at the time of the assaults, as a youth rehabilitative counselor who was in charge of supervising the victim and the other seven juveniles who reside at that facility.

Troopers also believe that Denigris gave the victim his personal email information on a prior occasion and believe Denigris and the victim communicated via emails on prior occasions.

State police executed a search warrant at Denigris' residence and seized his computer for forensic examination.

Denigris has been charged with two counts of rape and was released on $10,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing in the Court of Common Pleas for Kent County.

The investigation is on going and troopers plan on interviewing past patients for any prior assaults.

Any parent who had a child at the facility and believes that their child may have had contact with Denigris, is asked to call the state police at Troop - 3 at 697-2104 x309

Christopher L. Denigris Delaware State Police

SMYRNA, Del — A man employed to oversee juveniles with mental health disorders has been arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a girl under his supervision.

Christopher L. Denigris, 27, was arrested April 15, said Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Walter Newton.

The alleged incident took place at the Brenford Place treatment facility in Smyrna, where the 16-year-old is a resident. The girl told police Denigris sexually assaulted her at least twice on April 9 and April 10, Newton said. Troopers also feel Denigris gave the girl his personal email information on a prior occasion and that he and the girl had previously communicated via email.

Police seized Denigris' home computer for forensic examination and he was arrested after an investigation was conducted.

Denigris was charged with two counts of fourth-degree rape and released on $10,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing.

Troopers plan to interview past patients for any information about prior assaults, Newton said. Any parent who had a child at the facility and believes that their child may have had contact with Denigris is asked to call State Police at 697-2104, ext. 309.
