Suicide attempt with consequences

I got a mail from our contact on Facebook (Joan) that a girl apparently tried to hang herself.

Is it correct?

I believe her name was Amy Klemm. She apparently suffered some serious brain damage due to oxygen deprivation consequent to her hanging herself.
