Due to the recent flooding of spam, off topic threads, and various sorts of porn, Ginger and I have decided to temporarily (possibly permanantly) ban guest posing.  This does not mean and end to anonymity, however.  You can still register a second account and are not required to give your real name.  This decision did not come lightly but at this point we felt there is really no other choice.  Feel free to ask questions about the reasoning behind this decision here or berate myself and ginger.  That is your right and that will not change.

A friend of mine wrote in a PM
Quote
When people pretty much completely stop posting because of the excess of trolling, what is effectively happening is that he (the troll) is moderating the ability of others to post. This is hardly in the spirit of the forum.

At least for the time being, this is the way it has to be.  If you'd like to contact me personally or have problems posting, please email me at [email protected]

Thank you very much.  It's about time, in my opinion.

Hmm, I suppose so, at least theoretically. Which is one reason why I'm bummed the fuck out over this. We tried to hold out and be the last bastion of drive-by anon posting.
I guess living in a bad cyber-hood ain't all it's 'cracked' up to be...

Sometimes looking around here and reading some of these fornits threads, is to me like taking a peek into the Mos Eisely Spaceport from Star Wars. You  know:  "...you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy..."  That's what fornits is like sometimes, to me.  Too rich for my blood.

And I really like a lot the quote from your friend's PM, psy.  This person made an excellent point.

Perfectly put.  This is actually the exact reason as to why I participate here only relatively little: it's troll city and I never felt like dealing with them very much, having neither the patience nor the desire.  But, that's just me.

For a time last winter, the thread I started was sort of like my journal, and the things that I was publishing at the time (from within MH) were being processed and retrieved into my conscious awareness almost in the very moments that I was typing them out.  It was very cathartic for me to have put all of those nasty memories out into public, and to have gotten some support from my peers.  I am grateful for having found this domain and forum, the invaluable role that fornits has played in my therapy and healing process, and for the friends I have made through it.  The moderators of this website have my support, and respect.

IMO fornits ought to be better moderated (if possible, and according to resources available), but who am I to say?

Registration is a non-hurdle. Looks like I'm going to have to go back to using multiple pseudonyms to spread my message of discord.

Eventually they'll ban you by IP or some such thing and then you'll have ti fund another way in.  Why do you bother?

If you really wanted to get rid of the spamfag you'd ban him by IP

we did.

and see if he knows how to proxy.

he does.

He could be too much of a retard to make an account

he isn't, but it's a lot more hassle for him (new proxy, creating a new email, registration, confirmation, posting) and a lot less trouble to clean up the mess.  Banning and account deletion along with all user's posts is on a single form, more or less a five click process.

Also, why don't we just outright delete the racist threads? If the title of a post is racist, it discredits all the other posts on the same forum that might be intelligent and constructive. As soon as a would-be reader comes across the forum, their eyes are attracted to the racist slurs on the page and that's the impression that they go away with of Fornits users. The vast majority of us aren't racist, and by making us look like racists, those trolls are effectively moderating the forum themselves.

Scum and villainy expert speaking.

(And no, in case the dumbasses in the audience can't tell, I'm not the spammy fag clogging up the place.)
Yes you are the same person, as you are the same person as Andy Dufrain, as you are the same person as so on and so forth that has been posting crap here for months now.  This will not be tolerated and you cannot get around it by simply creating a new account and posting a "moderate" amount of threads with off-topic titles such as "Should niggers be allowed in programs?".  You, as a person, are banned, permanently.  Forever.  Gone.  Get the fuck out and do not come back.

Well, here's the problem: eliminating dissenting viewpoints ultimately eliminates discussion. The killing effect goes beyond the specific posts in question.

I'm not too happy about the new no-guest posting policy. I'm hoping it's temporary, 'till "the flooder" gets his act together. Flooding shuts down posting for everyone, 'cuz it's impossible to ignore. Unlike offensive posts, which one can just skip over and not read, it's hard to focus on the meat one is most interested in, when one cannot even find it for the detritus of someone's meltdown.

I'd suggest anybody who's really concerned about that level of evidence trail set up a disposable email account on something like hotmail or such like and use that for registration here.

But if your i p address  dose'nt change, with different e-mail accounts, shouldn't you still know who everybody is?  Or is that not possible?

Why don't we delete racist threads,
Well I would have to agree w/ deleting them. This is not a dissenting viewpoint as in a debate if you were to look at most of the posts. It is just garbage thrown up their on the post for reaction. You almost could not even call it racist, due to the immaturity of the content. Though I would b/cuz it is hurtful and ignorant. It is not asking for a discussion "legitimately" in my opinion, it is begging of stupidity.
Anyway I find these threads distasteful to say the least and have nothing to do with this site, now I am new and wet behind the ears so any respone would be welcome........ :shamrock:
