CENIKOR is Older

http://www.cenikor.org/

1967
Cenikor founded at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Canon City. Former prisoners and addicts begin a peer-centered therapeutic community with strict rules and guidelines. Those in the program pledge to direct and support each other to change bad behavior.

1968
Cenikor's current president, Ed Fresquez, becomes a part of the program after leaving prison. Many people he knows also want to change and they get involved as well.

The idea of people helping people through role modeling, self policing and having ownership in the program becomes the tenet for Cenikor's long-term, residential chemical dependency treatment program.

1969
Cenikor outgrows its first Lakewood location and buys a two-story building known as "Mother's Bakery" right around the corner from the first small home. Work is done by the residents to turn the building into a proper residence.

Throughout the years, Cenikor residents have done all renovations themselves, saving on labor costs and also teaching valuable skills.

2004

Cenikor celebrates its 35th anniversary.

Ever heard of Bob Meehan?

Just ran accross this website.
http://www.ontheemmis.com/home

Sounds hauntingly familiar to me. There may or may not be direct links among The Seed, Synanon, Cenikor, the Meehan facilities and others. But the methods and social structure are strikingly similar.

Here's my theory. The Program wasn't 'invented' any few decades ago by anybody in particular. The power structure and MO is a manifestation of all too common human behavior very similar to that of an abusive, over-controling romantic relationship. It's also very similar to a phenomena in aboriginal cultures when a medicine man or spiritual leader goes radical. When I described the Program to a friend of mine who'd grown up in Haiti, she said "Yeah, zombi masters" and proceeded to explain how self appointed Voodoo priests go about making virtual slaves of vulnerable people wherever they find them. (and they're a dime a dozen in places like Haiti)

So it might be very helpful to discuss The Seed in the broader context of cults in general and down through history. Or, specifically, to compare notes w/ individuals who may have had similar experience to your own, like the Meehan people or ex Synanites.

Wicked men obey from fear, good men from love.

Maybe it is just a little intellectually over your head.

You keep saying that, but you never explain.

Check out their FAQ here

Is this or is this not a nearly word-for-word description of The Seed?

Hey Greg, whadaya say we BINGO this? I'm ready to flip a coin here. Take whichever position you think most likely and I'll try the other.

I already asked the guy who hosts the site and he doesn't know.

It's obnoxious to ask law enforcement to follow the law. That's insulting to every cop.
